How important is GPA when applying for management consulting jobs with a low undergrad GPA of 2.9? #LowGPA #ManagementConsulting #Big4 #MBB
– Does GPA still matter during the interview stage for consulting firms?
– Will having multiple strategy and consulting internships offset a low GPA?
– How can networking and obtaining a referral increase chances of getting hired?
My first instinct is to say no. However, I think it depends on the company. Most companies these days, GPA and sometimes a college degree, are not of any importance as compared to skills.
I know engineering firms and such do look at GPAs, but you are looking into management consulting. I would be more interested in learning what you did to pursue this avenue (courses, training or certifications) versus your GPA.
I see it this way, we all have something to offer a company. You don’t want to be the person that only offers a GPA.
