I auto saved once in Skyrim right as I loaded into a room where I died .5 seconds later. I didn’t have any options or magic since I was running a pure melee and didn’t have any other save and I had been playing for about 30 hours at that point. I tried almost 40 times to figure something out before I cut my loss and started over.
I’m assuming it’s just programmed to autosave after every loading screen. So when you fast travel or something it’ll autosave in case you die immediately after or something.
They have manual saves that you can use if you want to set up saves that don’t get overwritten.
You get worked up over that. Boy, life is gonna really disappoint you.
I think part of it is that the game has to check your Ubisoft rewards for any new unlocks then would save after it unlocks them? Not sure if that’s the actual reason though
This is why you have manual saves.
It could be that it tracks stats, like how many times you’ve loaded your game. Can’t be sure to accurately track the stats unless the save is updated whenever the stat is!
yeah I lost 2 hours in FF7 rebirth cuz of that. I clicked “restart checkpoint” not realizing the checkpoint was at the start of the chapter and not after I did one of the world objectives. Autosaved as soon as it loaded for…reasons. Didn’t have a recent save either. Been more careful since.
I don’t know why more games just don’t have multiple autosave slots.
