🐒 Have you ever been called a primate? It may sound like an insult, but did you know that humans are actually part of the primate family? 🙊 In this article, we’ll explore the idea that calling someone a primate isn’t really an insult – it’s just stating a fact.
Understanding the Science
🔬 The term “primate” refers to a group of mammals that includes humans, apes, monkeys, and lemurs. These animals share similar physical characteristics, such as grasping hands and forward-facing eyes. So, when someone calls you a primate, they’re technically correct!
Breaking the Stigma
😡 Society often uses the term “primate” as an insult, implying that being compared to an animal is degrading. But why should it be insulting to be compared to an incredible, intelligent species like the primate? Embrace your primate ancestry!
Real-Life Examples
1. 🧠 Think about it: even the smartest humans share 98% of their DNA with chimpanzees. That’s a pretty close connection!
2. 🦍 Look at the amazing things primates are capable of: tool use, problem-solving, and even complex social structures. Being called a primate isn’t so bad after all!
Embracing the Truth
💡 Instead of taking offense when someone calls you a primate, take it as a reminder of the incredible diversity and beauty of the natural world. We are all connected, and being part of the primate family is something to be proud of!
So next time someone tries to insult you by calling you a primate, just smile and thank them for recognizing your place in the animal kingdom. After all, being part of the primate family is nothing to be ashamed of – it’s something to celebrate! 🌿 #PrimatesRock
By the same reasoning there is no insult in calling someone an animal.
Depends on skin color
If you call a dark skin colored human a primate it’s classified as discrimination. White people don’t care if they are called primates
It doesn’t work like that. Insults need context and intent. If I intend to offend you and the context says calling someone a primate is an insult (i.e. trying to insult a black person), then yeah, it’s definitely an insult.
Similarly, I can call you a salted slug with the intent of insulting your logical process.
only an ape would type that. youknow, after a few years of evolution
People also get upset by animal.
There’s a lot of historical context around why being called a primate may be more insulting to some people than to others.
Insults can be facts
Idk… I was called a stupid ape, and honestly, it is insulting. That being said, people are going to say shitty things… what others think of me doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is how I view myself.
I casually made reference to us being animals in front of my religious grandmother, some people both refute the fact and take offence to it.
Look! The Yakubian ape believes itself to be intelligent! I cast *vicious mockery*!
/J because I’m certain someone will think this isn’t a joke
“You’re ugly!” Both an insult and stating a fact. They’re not mutually exclusive.
At least its not “lemur” or a “tree shrew”.
Wait till we start calling each other idiots.
lol I love this! Met a few Neanderthals today, including one that’s obsessed with cats 🐈⬛ 😂😂
A lot of people tend to react negatively whenever you state a fact about them
Nice thought, but I don’t think it’s at all accurate.
That’s why I just call them Homo Erectus
Arguably the same applies to calling someone a monkey. I don’t really agree but it’s arguable.
The comments were expected. A handful of people making logical conversation, a few people saying you’re just wrong and one dude who just *really* wants to get the last word in because someone shit in his porridge this morning.
On a side note, I hate racists for (among other things) ruining calling someone an ape or monkey. I want to compare individuals to uncivilized poo-flingers without any racial bullshit. Some people just act like they should be in a zoo.
Facts are often used as insults
get your stinking paw off me, you damn dirty ape
This is doubly true if you’re referring the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Maybe you think you are a primate. People can think what they want. But don’t call it a fact.
Go do this in Compton and report back your findings
