#RandomThoughts #Natural #LifeMusings #Philosophy #DeepThinking
Do you ever find yourself lost in a whirlwind of random thoughts? 🤔 From pondering the meaning of life to wondering why we even exist, our minds can take us on a wild journey of contemplation and reflection. But have you ever stopped to think about the concept of nature and how everything we encounter is technically 100% natural? 🌿
Let’s dive into this intriguing idea and explore the fascinating world of natural occurrences and human creation. 💭
Everything in Nature
When we think of the word “natural,” images of lush green forests, cascading waterfalls, and blooming flowers often come to mind. But what about the things that are man-made? Are they not natural as well? Consider the following:
1. Our thoughts and emotions are a product of our biology and genetics, making them inherently natural.
2. The technology we use every day, from smartphones to computers, is created using materials found in nature like metals and minerals.
Human Creation vs. Natural Occurrences
While it’s easy to differentiate between human creation and natural occurrences, the lines can often blur. Take, for example:
– Music: While the lyrics and melodies may be created by humans, the sounds themselves are vibrations in the air, which is a natural element.
– Art: Paintings and sculptures may be created by human hands, but the materials used, like canvas and clay, are derived from nature.
As you reflect on these examples, it becomes clear that even the most artificial of creations have roots in the natural world. 🎨
Appreciating the Complexity of Nature
When we take a moment to appreciate the complexity of nature and the interconnectedness of all things, it becomes clear that everything is, in fact, 100% natural. 🌎 From the depths of the ocean to the expanse of the universe, nature’s fingerprints can be found in every corner of existence.
So, the next time you find yourself lost in random thoughts about the world around you, remember that everything is part of nature’s grand design. Embrace the beauty and wonder of it all, and let your mind wander freely in the boundless expanse of the natural world. 🌌
In conclusion, by recognizing the natural elements in everything we encounter, we gain a deeper appreciation for the world and our place within it. Stay curious, stay open-minded, and continue to explore the intricate tapestry of nature that surrounds us every day. 🌿🌟
I guess it depends on your definition of occurring in nature.
>nat·u·ral
ˈnaCHər(ə)l,ˈnaCHr(ə)l/
adjective
1.
existing in or caused by nature; not made or caused by humankind.
“carrots contain a natural antiseptic that fights bacteria”
2.
of or in agreement with the character or makeup of, or circumstances surrounding, someone or something.
“sharks have no natural enemies”
I think technically everything isn’t 100% natural
There are 24 synthetic elements that do not occur naturally. Curium, for example; it didn’t even exist before 1944.
No matter how complicated it’s chemical structure, it breaks down into natural elements. It’s the combinations that are scary. Like dihydrogen monoxide!
Crappy shower thought which is wrong
Does that include supernatural beings?
If by technically you mean if we ignore what words mean, then sure.
Yeah I was thinking about this humans. The word natural is a weird concept created by humans. I mean we are nature. How is a human building different then an ant hill? So how is one thing natural and the other unnatural? We like to think of ourselves as something other than the earth which is just not true. At least until we are stuck on this planet.
Sorry buddy. I’m on a crusade to stop the abuse of “technically”.
And everything is chemicals
I had a conversation with my girlfriend a few months ago about how I think it’s incredibly arrogant of us to consider ourselves as “outside of nature”. We are millions of years of constant evolution, and everything we use comes from this planet. How is technology not the next step of evolution? How is technology not in our nature?
Natural means “not manmade”. Plenty of things are manmade.
Not “[Happy Fun Ball](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmqeZl8OI2M)”
Humans separating themselves from the rest of nature is complete nonsense. We think we’re so different, we’re just a bunch of ants just like anything else. It’s just theology carried over to science to think we are separate from it.
Yeah, I’m amidst trying to convince my girl that her diamond is 100% real… cubic zirconium
We humans believe we are above nature if that makes sense. When animals kill each other we are told not to intervene or help because that is the way of nature. But when humans rob and kill and do fked up things we consider that a crime. Crime is by our definition not part of nature.
Yup, and then plastic is bad for the planet.
Natural, by definition, refers to things that are not made by human skill.
So technically, if you go to woods and make a fire using wood and stone – that’s not natural.
Technically, if you carve a drawing into the stone, that’s not natural.
Technically if you peel an orange, that orange is no longer natural.
What about things that don’t exist?
Too many people in this thread using a boring and anthro-centric definition of “natural” to exclude exclusively man made things.
Humans ate natural and what we do is in our nature.
I’ve tried to explain this to people, but they seem to get angry at the idea for some reason.
A guy at work used to drone on about how his family only eats organic non-gmo food. I would tell him that all food is organic and all food is genetically modified.
for this to be true, you would then have to eliminate the word synthetic, since that’s our word for things created by humans. But as someone else stated, there are elements that are so unstable that we can create for the tiniest fraction of a second before they decay that it is impossible for those elements to form naturally through fusion from a supernova or accretion disc around a black hole. At least not in the amount of time the universe has existed. Similarly plastic, which requires refined oil and fairly complex and convoluted methods to create, which again, would not happen naturally. If you eliminate the word synthetic, you’re correct. Although what about ideas and concepts. Is the idea or concept of god/worship natural?
Internet is not natural
Our physics professor told the story of a survey in Denver. People were told that living in Denver, they’re exposed to more radiation than someone living on a nuclear submarine, primarily from radon gas and high-altitude solar radiation. The survey showed that many people weren’t concerned because it’s organic, naturally occurring radiation.
I was going to agree with you until I saw the definition of natural literally means “existing in or caused by nature; not made or caused by humankind.” I think it’s more accurate to say the word natural is stupid because it says that things caused by nature doesn’t include stuff made by humans. When really humans are the product of nature, so is everything we make is the product of nature.
I’m pretty sure meth is isn’t natural.
Beautiful discourse people! Keep it up. Prove me right or prove me wrong. It’s nicer to see the discussions.
Hell, it’s the exact rationale companies use to stick “natural” on the packaging of processed crap.
