Hey there! Ever heard the saying “It’s Whom You Know”? Well, let me tell you a little story that will make you think twice before messing with the wrong person!
## The Setup
So, my neighbor decided to build a fancy patio/kitchen structure on our shared back fence. He had it all – from a fully plumbed kitchen to an expensive sound system and even a faux-crystal chandelier. At first, I turned a blind eye to it all, thinking, “Live and let live.”
But things took a nasty turn when he falsely accused me of throwing dog feces into his pool. To make matters worse, he encouraged his party guests to throw trash into my yard as ‘retaliation’. And guess what? This guy was a cop!
## Cue the Revenge
I decided enough was enough and sought help from a good friend who was the city’s Director of Code Enforcement. He found several violations and no building permits for the structure. Long story short, my neighbor was slapped with fines and ordered to remove the illegal structure or face even more penalties. Even his boss, the Chief of Police, refused to intervene!
## The Fallout
In the end, my neighbor had to comply or risk losing his job. He tore down the structure, sold all the fancy appliances, and fixtures at auction before moving away. And guess who now has that beautiful chandelier hanging over their dining room table? 🤩
So, remember, it’s not always about what you know, but WHO you know. Sometimes having the right connections can make all the difference. Just be careful who you mess with – you never know who they might be connected to! 😉
No, you didn’t buy the chandelier!! XD
That last line? *chef’s kiss*
petty revenge – *best served torn down and auctioned…*
Hey, Rashkamere: Thanks for the award!
He was a crappy cop if he was going to make stupidly false accusations. They should have to take regular problem solving tests.
Maybe a bird picked it up and dropped it in the pool.
I retired as a police supervisor, but not a chief of police(COP). I’m not especially surprised that the chief of police refused to intervene for a couple reasons.
One, other than the neighbor being happy because he got one over on the system, there is no upside for the COP. The report was made by code enforcement, if COP tries quashing it or intervening, it’s public record and would not be hard to find out he/she did.
Two, partly for the same reason as one, it looks corrupt if the COP had gotten involved. In today’s political climate, it would probably have ended the COP’s career. I guarantee the report was looked at by the department, in mine it would have definitely been reviewed by internal affairs.
This is one of my favourites! You sound a cool neighbour!
I hope the chandelier always makes you smile.
