#SalaryCut #UnethicalBoss #PayTransparency #JobSearch
Hey everyone! 👋 Need your advice on this sticky situation I’m dealing with at work. So, my new boss has changed my salary (lowered) twice since taking over, and he doesn’t even have the courtesy to inform me. I find out about the pay cuts only when I see it on my paystub.
Here’s a quick rundown of what’s been happening:
– Took away my commission without notice, resulting in a significant drop in pay
– Recently removed my gas allowance of $300/month, again, without any heads up
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Is this even legal? It’s frustrating to say the least. I’ve been exploring other job opportunities, but nothing has panned out yet.
So, what would you do in my shoes? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated! 🤔✨
In the meantime, I’m considering the following steps to address the situation:
– Reviewing my employment contract to understand my rights
– Seeking advice from a legal professional
– Documenting all communication with the boss regarding these changes
Thanks in advance for your help! Let’s navigate through this together. 💪 #SupportEachOther #WorkplaceIssues
He wants you to quit. Can’t you take a hint?
He knows exactly what he’s doing OP – he’s trying to squeeze you until you voluntarily quit.
As far as legality goes, I would suggest reaching out to an employment attorney for a consult, as you stated there was a previous ‘compensation agreement’ in place.
Where I live, that would be constructive dismissal.
Consult an employment attorney. This stinks like day old fish.
Start discussing salaries openly and organizing a union with your co-workers. As soon as he gets wind he’ll probably fire you, then you can take him to court for retaliation.
If there was a written contract, could this be violating any FLSA laws?
Get an employment lawyer as soon as possible and contact your union if you have one. I don’t think what he’s doing is legal, but who knows what goes on with these corporate rules.
1. I would be pissed 2. I would want to get my full pay that was agreed on.
Ask your state <employment> board (whoever governs things like wage theft)
Technically he’s not cutting your salary (commission arguably). He’s removing benefits. That makes it more complicated.
Are you the only one that lost commission or gas allowance? That might be your angle.
Start looking for jobs with a competitor.
It’s massively illegal.
gather documentation of your paystubs, etc., and quit.
Then file for unemployment citing “constructive dismissal”
Also go to the labor department with proof that he changed you pay AFTER you worked that time period, which is FUCKING ILLEGAL. They will fine him 3x what he cheated you out of, and give it to you.
You don’t even need to hire a lawyer; just get the proof. (and you won’t have proof that he didn’t tell you—but he’ll have to provide proof that he DID, AND that you agreed to it.) The agency will fight for you.*
(I’m assuming you’re in the US)
*vote for political candidates who will fund and support the work of government agencies that fight for citizens against capitalists, etc.
Illegal, hit up the department of labor, you could get more than what you’re owed
Put in less and less effort, in the end he wont have any choice other than to do what he intends to do and you get to collect your unemployment money
Bruh you mean old boss right cause you reached down found some self respect and bounced? This is cuckold level stuff
I would apply for a new jobs and give 10% effort at your current one until your pay is made whole. Sales jobs without commission is dumb.
