For everyone who wants to be an entrepreneur but doesn’t know what to do, I completely understand where you’re coming from. It can be overwhelming to try and figure out what business to start or what niche to focus on. But remember, becoming an entrepreneur shouldn’t be your sole goal. Instead, focus on gaining valuable skills and life experiences that will naturally lead you to great ideas.
## Why You Shouldn’t Rush into Entrepreneurship
I’m probably in the minority with this opinion, but I’m going to offer some unsolicited advice. Many people think that the first step to becoming an entrepreneur is to come up with a brilliant idea. However, I believe that the best ideas come from a combination of skills, experiences, and problems that we encounter in our daily lives.
## The Importance of Skills and Life Experience
If you are young, in your teens or early twenties, don’t rush into entrepreneurship just yet. Take the time to develop your skills, gain valuable experiences, and learn from the world around you. This will better prepare you to identify problems that need solving and come up with innovative solutions.
1. **Take Classes and Read Widely:** Learning is a lifelong process, and the more you know, the better equipped you will be to tackle challenges and create opportunities.
2. **Work in Different Industries:** Having a diverse range of work experiences will expose you to various problems and help you develop a deeper understanding of how businesses operate.
3. **Network and Learn from Others:** Surround yourself with people who have different perspectives and expertise. You never know where your next big idea might come from.
## Mark Zuckerberg’s Journey to Entrepreneurship
Think of some of the most successful entrepreneurs of our time – Mark Zuckerberg, for example. He didn’t set out to become an entrepreneur. Instead, he focused on developing his skills as a programmer and created a platform that solved a specific problem he experienced – connecting with others at his university.
## How to Find Your Business Idea
So, if you’re still struggling to come up with a business idea, don’t worry. Here are some tips to help you get started:
1. **Identify Your Passions and Strengths:** What are you passionate about? What are you good at? Your business idea should align with your interests and skills.
2. **Look for Problems to Solve:** Pay attention to the challenges people face in their daily lives. Can you come up with a solution that would make their lives easier?
3. **Experiment and Iterate:** Don’t be afraid to try new things and pivot if necessary. Your first idea might not be the one that takes off, and that’s okay. Keep experimenting until you find the right fit.
4. **Seek Feedback:** Share your ideas with friends, mentors, and potential customers. Their feedback can help you refine your concept and make it more appealing to your target market.
## Trust the Process
Remember, entrepreneurship is a journey, not a destination. Allow yourself the time to gain valuable experiences, develop your skills, and explore different opportunities. The right idea will come to you when the time is right.
So, don’t rush into entrepreneurship just because you feel like you should. Allow life to unfold naturally, and focus on becoming the best version of yourself. The rest will follow.
Best of luck on your entrepreneurial journey! 🚀.
Wow I need this type of clarity in my life. Thank you so much for this.❤️
Words of wisdom
I’m the opposite, I have a ton of great ideas, but no idea of how to get started without financial backing or a network of connections.
Cool
Yep agreed, solid advice here.
Top advice that most here will ignore. Many are beyond help.
This is absolutely spot on.
For the most part I feel like people don’t “want to be entrepreneurs” they want to get rich quick and think this is the easiest route.
Great advice, I second this
Much helpful advice!
This is one of the best posts ever made on this sub.
Long story very short, I started an Amazon business because I found a hole In the market when I was searching for a product to use myself. Then a light bulb clicked and I just decided to launch my own product. I had never imagined I would become an e com entrepreneur, but now 4 years later it has become my full time job.
Love this message OP.
This is the grounded, reasonable advice people need to here
Here’s the harsh real world truth: ideas are a dime a dozen. Yes, even awesome ideas.
The thing that the market (and financial folks, backers, etc) value is execution of an idea.
Here’s the second harsh teuth: execution does not equal making a thing (an invention, an app, a business model, a website, etc) – that is part of it, but not the end of the road.
Execution is to manifest an idea IRL and them get people to buy it. If you don’t have the “get people to buy it” part, you don’t have anything that people will want to back.
There are thousands of inventions actually created every year (which puts them way ahead of the idea people) – and then they sit on a shelf somewhere.
You want to be an entrepreneur, not an inventor. Entrepreneurs hustle to meet potential customers and sell them stuff.
Great Advice. One more thing to add. Don’t just totally believe that it will take time and effort (as you’re engaging with different knowledge and expertise). It may be possible that you can discover it much soon.
Working in the real world helps you find opportunities so if you are sitting at home without doing anything for clients and not at a job you don’t have enough exposure to have good business ideas.
I think that we still need to start as soon as possible. Try to build a small app that solve a tiny problem and launch. This is a small step but will have some changes in our mindset, from problem complaint -> problem seeking -> problem solver. This shift actually do happened to me. Even though I didn’t have any product yet :))))
Another thing I always encourage myself is what I’m about to do didn’t have to be life changing, didn’t have to be big, if someone just find it helpful, using it – this is already the reward
Yes It should be a good advice to learn with action and experiences if all the fields but i’m still thinking to having a define goal in my mind (obviously with the time could change and that stuff).
I’m a teen i discovered the world of self improvement but the thing that i got clear is to start doing and doing things.
Do you agree boys?
