Hey everyone, I need some advice! 🙋♂️
I’m a radiologic technologist (xray tech) and I’ve been feeling really stuck in my job lately. It pays well, but it’s really taking a toll on my mental and physical health. I’m constantly exhausted and I’ve lost all motivation to pursue my passions like playing in bands. 😞
I’ve been contemplating a career change for a while now, but I always end up back at square one because I don’t know where to start. Can any of you fellow creative souls out there share your experiences with finding a fulfilling and less stressful career? I’m open to any suggestions at this point!
Some possible solutions that I’ve been considering include:
– Exploring careers in graphic design or marketing
– Pursuing a career in music production or sound engineering
– Looking into opportunities in woodworking or carpentry
I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas! Please help a homie out! 🫶
You may have to go back to school but you’re still really young. 26 is still barely older than anyone else will be in the class. I’m 35 and in the process of getting back into school for a new career. I don’t have any really job suggestions but don’t let age hold you back. you are still young enough to switch careers multiple times.
That’s not the job for you, and everything inside of you is telling you that. Have you considered part time work and maybe find something you like or can tolerate that allows you to use your skills and gifts?
Dang this scares me, I’m 24 and about to start a rad tech program after working the same job for 8 years. I can relate to some of your problems, like being too tired to do anything besides work. I think it’s more of a mental health problem rather than a professional problem. Is there anything specific about your career you could share with me that you despise?
One of the reasons I want to be an x ray tech is so I could work a little less than I work now, make way more, and have more time to pursue your passions. Have you tried working part time?
I’d kill for a certifiable medical skill like you have and a predictable 9-5
Most of these comments so far suck.
Maybe even suck as badly as your job.
You hate your boring, soul-draining job so bad… you’re too damn exhuasted to follow your heart, passions, and dreams…
Pshhh, you can’t even have dreams because it zapped the shit out of you, now you’re some undead zombie who’s perpetually depressed and numb.
Since you’ve been doing this job for some time, hopefully you have a nice cushy savings, right?
Can you live with parents for some time, or people who’re okay helping you get yourself together?
So you can leave your job, give them your 2 week notice!
And then what?
Great question.
You find inspiration. You start doing what your younger self wanted to do. You go out meet new people. You find a part-time job or freelance skill as a…
* video editor
* webflow developer
* email copywriter
* voice over artist (if you got the voice)
Something more creative, challenging, helping you push yourself out of your comfort zone, and then what???
Who knows, the truth is are you going to regret not figuring it out – by not stepping into the unknown (where you can discover and grow)?
Or are you gonna regret it for the rest of your life for staying in the nightmarish hell you’re already in?
