## Understanding the Challenges
### 1. Identifying the Root Cause
One of the first steps in addressing a failing business is to pinpoint the underlying issues that led to the current predicament. In your case, it seems like drugs and alcohol have played a part in steering your company off course. It’s crucial to acknowledge and address these personal challenges before they further impact the business.
### 2. Financial Drain
Financial hardship is a common symptom of a failing business. You mentioned feeling financially drained, which is understandable given the circumstances. But remember, there are ways to alleviate this burden and get back on track.
### 3. Emotional Toll
The toll of watching your business crumble can take a significant emotional toll. Coupled with personal struggles and the loss of a loved one, it’s no wonder you’re feeling overwhelmed. It’s important to prioritize your mental well-being during this trying time.
## Navigating Through the Storm
### 1. Seek Professional Help
Consider seeking professional help for your personal struggles with drugs and alcohol. Counseling or rehabilitation programs can provide the support you need to overcome these challenges and regain clarity.
### 2. Evaluate the Business
Take a step back and objectively evaluate the state of your business. Identify areas that require immediate attention, such as cutting expenses, renegotiating contracts, or restructuring operations.
### 3. Reconnect with Your Support System
Reconnecting with friends and loved ones can provide a strong support system during difficult times. Lean on those who have stood by you through thick and thin, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it.
### 4. Reassess Your Business Goals
Reflect on the potential of your company and the future revenue it could generate. Is there still a viable path to success, or is it time to consider alternative options? Sometimes, shutting down and starting over can lead to greener pastures.
### 5. Seek Inspiration from Success Stories
Many successful entrepreneurs have endured tumultuous ups and downs in their business journey. Take inspiration from their stories, but also recognize that every situation is unique. It’s crucial to make decisions based on your specific circumstances.
## Making the Tough Decisions
### 1. Knowing When to Let Go
When is enough, enough? It’s a question that often lingers in the minds of struggling entrepreneurs. If the weight of the challenges becomes too much to bear, it may be time to consider shutting down the company and starting anew.
### 2. Weighing the Potential
On the other hand, if there is still untapped potential within your business, it might be worth exploring different strategies to revitalize it. Leverage the knowledge and experience gained from your previous successes to chart a new course for your company.
### 3. Seeking Professional Advice
Consider seeking advice from business consultants or mentors who can provide an objective perspective on your situation. Their insights can help you make informed decisions about the future of your business.
## Moving Forward
### 1. Embracing a Fresh Start
Whether you decide to pivot and revamp your current business or embark on a new venture, remember that every end marks a new beginning. Embrace the opportunity for a fresh start and approach it with renewed vigor and determination.
### 2. Prioritizing Self-Care
As you navigate through this challenging period, prioritize your self-care and well-being. Seek professional help, practice self-care routines, and engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation.
### 3. Learning from the Experience
Every setback offers valuable lessons. Take the time to reflect on the experiences and challenges you’ve encountered, and use them to inform your future decisions and actions.
## The Road Ahead
In conclusion, navigating through the challenges of a failing business requires resilience, self-reflection, and strategic decision-making. It’s important to address personal struggles and evaluate the state of the business with a clear and objective mindset. Whether you choose to revitalize your current business or embark on a new journey, remember that the road to success is often paved with obstacles. Stay strong, seek support, and believe in the potential of a brighter future. You’re not alone in this journey.
Sounds like you need a new partner
Bro, fuck the business, get help for your health and the rest will follow. No business is worth your life.
If the business model is good and you can easily make the business profitable again, then itโs time to lock yourself in a room and make a plan to get it there. Personally, I break everything down into 6-week cycles and then plan out exactly what needs to happen every week over those 6 weeks. Then I take two weeks off to see how it went and plan the next 6 weeks.
If the business model is not good, just go get a job, you can always start the business again later.
What are the contributing factors to it failing?
on the surface it doesnt sound like the business is the problem, sounds like you’re an addict and u need help.
hire someone to run the business while u go get yourself fixed.
theres no one to blame except yourself, so man up, own it and turn your life around.
stop feeling sorry for yourself and playing the victim
Rest. Take time and rest, person that I have hella love for, but we don’t know each other.
I love you. Hug yourself. Shut down for a few days and hang out with loved ones.
It’s going to be okay.
Without harming yourself, You can kill the parts of you that you hate. Do that. Your too magical.
My dad died last year in April , so I get it.
I lost my friends because of the business.
I was in debt 150k while having a business do 150k in rev.
I helped other people and it helped me.
Just continue moving forward and helping people and it’ll all resolve itself.
There’s this concept of karma planting and karma harvesting. The way to do it is to help someone else achieve what you want to do
Your self awareness is a great trait to have. In bad times, rely on every corner of strength you have. If you need help medically, take it as first priority. Rebooting business is advised once you are out of addiction. And then take smaller steps, hustle yourself, start generating revenue even if it trickles at the onset.
Get straight with yourental health. You’re 28 working in the same business? Grab $2k-$3k and bounce to South East Asia for a month and push the reset button my guy. Take a step back and reconvene.
Seriously.
Lots of us have gone through this. Endure through it, and work at it
Even if you shut the business, the drugs and alcohol ain’t stopping.
So why not parallelly try to control those .
Seek professional help
Shut that shit down now, you canโt become slave to this
You decide when enough is enough, I’m sorry to be very rude with you, but all these people walking out of your life (not your father, of course!) See as a positive way: Life remove what is not in agreement with your values. You know that your business can grow, so come on and apply it what YOU KNOW! focus on your business through what YOU KNOW TO DO and the cicles will help to put things in the right place in your heart, mind, soul and business. Sorry for your lost. If you were good with your father just cheers with every win that you have. If not, plz forgive yourself for judge the past nowdays.

Go get help – businesses can be inactive. Worst case you lose potential business, but like, how would that even help you right now?
If you’re not desperate for money you can just take a break and give yourself some headspace
Sell the company
Potential business is a phantom and people go broke chasing after it. A good business is simple. You have product or service A,B,C and D to sell. If a customer is willing and able to buy A,B,C or D and if that happens enough times to make it monetarily viable you have a business otherwise you donโt have shit. Simple.
Calm down and think thoroughly about what you really want.
At 28, you are experiencing pressures that entrepreneurs many years your senior with a lot more life experience struggle with. Drugs and alcohol are a stress coping mechanism; regardless of how/when it started, usage of either is destructive. You donโt owe anyone anything, especially not when your own well being is at risk. As others have said here, and having been there myself, first and foremost talk to a therapist/life coach on managing your emotions and using the right mental framework to process what is happening. Parallel to this, talk to some seasoned business owners and or someone at your local SCORE chapter to determine if and how to shut the business down. You do indeed need a mental break and vacation; take one but be sure to not go some place with drinking parties as that is not what you need. Start with some professional advice and take it one week at a time.
My 2023 going into 2024 has been an absolute test of everything I believe love and care about. The going gets rough bro, that’s life, I would really get yourself to the gym, find a grief group or at least a group for grief on Facebook just to have some people to talk to about the loss of your dad, I lost my brother and that was huge to me overcoming the grief.
If you have a drug addiction, you are the only one who can quit or continue using. One book I would highly recommend is Atomic Habits by James Clear so you can understand how to break that habit. Drug / alcohol / cigarette use is a habit, and very hard ones to break at that, it took me so many damn years to quit smoking cigarettes.
I quit for 5 than relapsed for 2 and finally quit thanks to that book, it gave me a huge insight into why I relapsed / reverted and it helped me identify how to break free, though it took me a while to put it all together along with my prior knowledge of quitting cigarettes I’m free again and now I live smoke free and haven’t touched Marijuana or alcohol for years ๐๐
Lastly, just remember life fucking sucks some years, it gets so hard, and it’s there for us to learn and get better, not to lose, even though it doesn’t feel that way, mindset here is key! I would watch inspirational YouTube videos, there are great videos by Les Brown, Tony Robbins, Trump (prior to being president), Evan Carmichael has a lot of great content, and oh yea David Goggins, stay hard bro ๐ช๐ช
Sounds like you need a mentor and some fresh eyes on the business that can help push it to the next level and you along with it. Have you given any thought to bringing someone on who can challenge and grow your business?
You need to sort your life first & once you get clarity you can start new business
If a business doesn’t generate +ve cashflow for more than 3 months. It’s time to give up.
Kill that job
Based on your condition
I would recommend to go to outpatient mental help for stress.
During and afterwards you will be able to see things more clearly…
Your priority imo is your health and life vs money…
What good is money if you lose your health?
U need to pause for a while, reassess all things u have done, cut off things what was nt required and what can be done differently now, especially when u see the potential you should not give upโฆ be your own back up, because no one stands by when things go down and give yourself time to grieve for the loss, becz it is the hardest thing to do and we as individual/human beings usually try to avoid through escapism and not by accepting .
I stopped reading at drugs and alcohol..
You literally know the answer you put it in parentheses
So are you left with the whole company or does the partner still owe equity? You can always bring in partners to help if there’s potential. But need to do a hard look and see if it’s really there. You’re stressed and are not in the right frame of mind to make a call, maybe use a friend or mentor or family that has biz saavy and look at it closely. I’d be happy to help you navigate business wise to decide whether to go for it on 4th down or point, just DM whenever.
But first, you need to take care of yourself and your suicidal ideation properly with a professional, then everything should fall in place. You’re young still and lots of time to make amends with friends, employees family and business partners/clients. Your admitting is the first step and recognizing you need help. Take it day by day and don’t worry too much about past or what you can’t control.
First, take whatever money you can and take a holiday in Bali or somewhere nice. You need this to reflect and recalibrate your mind.
When back, hit the gym and get in peak shape while you also focus on upskilling yourself and learning new things and gaining new abilities.
Do whatever you can if needed to make some money on the side, drive uber etc all while your planning your next move with the business.
Don’t ever give up, that is something I would always recommend, even if it’s not in your current business, don’t ever stop hustling and working your projects and making the bank you deserve.
All the best moving forward my friend, I am rooting for you!
Buy your partner out with a creative over-time deal, run the business the way you know it can be run, and cut out all of the bullshit.
Now, if youโre the one perpetuating non-productivity, you have to look in the mirror and ask if youโre willing to sacrifice the lifestyle of business ownership to correct the direction in which your business is traveling.
Is this the case for you, OP? Are you still committed while your partners are less so?
