🚨#WorkplaceTalk #SickLeaveRights
Hey everyone, have you ever been told by your general manager that sick leave should only be used if you’re on your death bed? 🤔 Well, that’s exactly what happened to me recently and it left me scratching my head. Here’s what went down:
– I called in sick with cold symptoms and a migraine
– GM said sick leave is only for extreme cases like heart attacks
– Mentioned team’s reputation for using leave options
I’m not sure about you, but I believe that sick leave should be utilized when we’re unwell and need time to rest and recover. Here’s my take on how to handle this situation:
– Check your company’s sick leave policy to understand your rights
– Provide a doctor’s note if necessary to support your absence
– Have a conversation with HR or higher management if you feel your rights are being violated
What do you think about this situation? Have you ever experienced something similar in your workplace? Let’s discuss and share our insights! 💬 #WorkplaceRights #EmployeeWellness 🌟
If you are mostly calling out of Fridays or Mondays and if you only get sick a day at a time, your manager likely thinks you are using your sick time in lieu of vacation time. Not saying you are but that could be the impression they have of you.
Sick leave is for being sick, physically or mentally. You are sick, you’re entitled to use the leave. You also don’t have to provide a dr certificate you can do a stat dec. Look up the fair work Australia website.
Good God! If they’re going to give you sickleave then they should allow you to take it for God sakes! Sick leave is when you’re freaking sick. It’s simple!
Quote what he said to HR and ask them to intervene. Clearly not a union situation – they would not allow.
