🤔 Have you ever encountered a tech company demanding a six-day work week without extra compensation?
I recently had a recruiter reach out to me about a role at LatchBio, a successful Silicon Valley company, that requires employees to work Monday through Saturday in person. After some digging, I discovered that the CEO and executive team are in their early twenties with no prior management experience, making me question the legitimacy of their demanding work culture.
Possible solutions to consider:
– Negotiate for additional compensation or benefits if expected to work beyond the standard five days
– Research company culture and employee reviews before agreeing to an interview
– Prioritize your mental and physical well-being over the allure of a well-known tech company

California has strick laws to protect workers.
Make sure it’s legal and how you get paid is legal. You should be paid overtime for anything over 8 hours in one day and over 40 hours in one week.
You would receive a lot of overtime and your job can’t redefine when you get overtime.
the CEO bragging about people “not being good enough” is a huge red flag for me.
Good job on naming the company
Their made up bar is a huge red flag.
“none have passed the bar” is hilarious coming from a group of people who probably wouldn’t make it past their own interviews.
What a bunch of douchebags.
Expenses paid?
I can’t believe they are still in business. I got an interview just so I could ask if it was a joke a few years ago. It wasn’t a joke but the company was…
200 people x 3 day onsite working interviews = 600 man-days or almost two years of free work/wasted time they’ve gotten from their unpaid interviewers. Not worth it.
Also for 6 days/week/forever I better own half the damn company.

It’s not that no one passed the bar, but rather that everyone saw that the bar was vertical with some specific colored fabric tied to it.
Why do they all wear turtlenecks?
