#LifeFeelsPointless #WhatIsThePoint #LostInLife
Do you ever find yourself in a moment of quiet contemplation, staring out into the vast expanse of your life and wondering, “What is the point of it all?” 🤔 Despite having a loving family, supportive friends, and a bright future ahead, you may still feel a sense of emptiness or lack of purpose. It’s a common struggle that many individuals face, and you are not alone in feeling this way.
## The Challenge of Finding Meaning
### Internal Struggles
You may be graduating from undergrad soon, but instead of feeling excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, you can’t shake off the feeling that everything is ultimately meaningless. 😞 You look at the future and see a void, devoid of any excitement or purpose. Even though you objectively enjoy the things and people in your life, there’s a lingering sense of pointlessness that clouds your outlook.
### Comparing Yourself to Others
As you observe those around you taking their goals and careers seriously, you can’t help but feel disconnected from their drive and ambition. You question the significance of chasing after success and wonder if it’s all just a game with no real purpose. The pressure to conform to society’s expectations weighs heavy on your shoulders, making you doubt your own path.
## Finding Meaning in the Midst of Doubt
### Self-Reflection and Acceptance
It’s important to take a step back and reflect on your values and beliefs. What truly matters to you? What brings you joy and fulfillment? Embrace your own journey and understand that it’s okay to feel lost at times. Accepting your emotions and experiences without judgment is the first step towards finding meaning in your life.
### Seeking Support and Connection
Reach out to those who understand your struggles and can offer support without judgment. Whether it’s a close friend, a mentor, or a therapist, having someone to talk to can help you navigate through the fog of uncertainty and pointlessness. Sharing your thoughts and feelings can provide clarity and a sense of connection during challenging times.
### Setting Small Goals and Embracing Growth
Instead of focusing on the grandiose narratives of success and achievement, try setting small, attainable goals that align with your values and aspirations. Celebrate each milestone you reach and embrace the journey of growth and self-discovery. Remember, life is a series of moments woven together, each holding its unique significance and meaning.
### Embracing the Present Moment
Practice mindfulness and presence in your daily life. Engage in activities that bring you joy and immerse yourself fully in the present moment. Whether it’s enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning or taking a walk in nature, savor the simple pleasures of life and appreciate the beauty that surrounds you. Life is not just about the destination but also the journey itself.
## Conclusion
Despite the overwhelming sense of pointlessness that may linger in your mind, remember that your life has intrinsic value and significance. Your experiences, emotions, and relationships all contribute to the tapestry of your existence, painting a unique portrait of who you are. Embrace the uncertainty, seek connection and support, and trust in the process of self-discovery and growth. You are not alone in your journey, and there is meaning to be found in every moment of life. 🌟
I’m 59 M and felt some angst after undergrad was over, it gets better when you decide specifically what you want. Then, there’s paying the price. That’s when it gets interesting.
I feel you.
My sense is that a shift happened for me when there was no more “goal-directed” excitement. During our youth, we have all these goal-directed stuff related to our education, be it tests and quizes or school projects, and getting good grades, and moving on to the next grade, or from elementary to middle to high school to college, then there’s similar goal-directed stuff in college. All of that is with the promise that if we do well, we’re be finally happy as adults. But the prize is not quite what it seeems, ya know? Then you’re an adult and its like, work real hard and you can make more money… but my frustration isn’t necessarily lack of money (not to say more money wouldn’t be great) it’s the lack of ambition or excitement or motivation or kind of joy of being alive. I think its easy to just label it “depression” and I couldn’t tell ya what the underlying thing is or how to solve it, but it’s real. Thanks for sharing, I don’t feel quite as alone on this one.
Do you know Maslow’s pyramid of needs ?
Google it since we can’t comment images.
It looks like to me that you’ve fulfilled your basic and psychological needs and now you have the need of self-fulfillment.
>I don’t know why but everything just feels pointless. The thing is, I’m not depressed my life is great I have an amazing family friends and boyfriend. I’m graduating undergrad this year and I just look at the future with this ugh feeling.
That would explain why you have this weird feeling even though everything’s in your life is good.
Hope this resonated with you and helped you.

You ever try drugs?
Take life one day at a time and build the life you want. Find a spouse and get married; does that sound boring?
I relate, graduating in August and feel dead, empty inside. I was much happier when I had friends, bf, cat, family around but life took that away from me and I had to adapt to the new reality. Life is what you make of it sort of thing. You can think maybe not existing is better which probably is but then again can’t take life for granted.
Hey yes this is the oldest existential ever lasting human crisis we feel you. I think that finding meaning is realted to connecting to nature somehow. Not just getting a pet (which is a must ) but also in terms of what the heck we are doing here on this planet. From my understanding we are a part of something greater – call it God, Gaia whatever. the problem is that we are disconnected and overly concerned with ourselves.. Although i want to say that it does not have to be like that, i suppose it is a part of nature. A wise king once said that nothing is new under the sun..

End of the day, be a good person. See God in which ever way you can. And enjoy the parts of the ride that you can.
Peace and love to you !
