Contact the BBB or change the phone number
I did a general phone screen on a candidate last year. I didnt have jobs for them but said I could reach out if something came along. FOUR DAYS LATER, I get this. The PII he mentions was nothing more than the resume that he had submitted to my site.
“Do not contact me. Due to a lack of communication on available jobs, I will be locking down my Financials, with my PII in your possession and no communications on employment. I will have no choice but to start launching an inquiry against you. too many scammers out there to take chance with my identity.”
tangentially related but do people actually check the BBB to a meaningful degree? I don’t know anyone who actually puts stock in anything BBB-related, other than retirees who like to cite it as a boogeyman if they have a bad customer service experience
>“yes, I just wanted to make sure, because when you text me I get an alert/ warning stating that this phone number has been reported to the BBB(Better Business Bureau) as a potential scam agency”.
How is this a thing? The BBB is a private bussiness, they cant hack into peoples cellular networks to push notifications that they are receiving “scam” calls.
Maybe they were just embellishing because it came up as “potential spam” on their caller ID, which a lot of bussiness numbers do. And admittedly, if youre a 3rd party recruiter, you do spam call a lot, so it makes sense your number would be caught in some filters.
Back when I use to send bulk texts, Apple would flag my account as spam. I’ve had to call to get my Apple ID cleared. I still can’t sent links unless I’m saved in their phone.
Also, many of my coworkers have gotten similar flags from the FCC. My organization has had direct communication with them to avoid this across the recruiting force.
