Hey fellow nurses, I need your advice! 🏥💉 Have you ever dealt with a co-worker who goes out of their way to make your work life miserable? I’m in a tough situation with a PCT at my hospital and I’m worried that nothing will happen even after multiple complaints. Here’s a quick rundown:
🤔 PCT refuses to help me since day one and openly talks behind my back
📞 Countless complaints from staff and families about her behavior
🚫 Management has had multiple sit-downs with her, but no major change
💥 Situation escalated to the point of verbal assault in front of managers
😰 Feeling anxious about speaking up and potential retaliation
I’ve taken steps to address the issue with HR, but I’m still unsure about the outcome. It’s a tough spot because I love my job, the people I work with, and the projects I’m involved in. So, here are my questions for you:
💡 Did I handle the situation correctly?
💪 Is there anything else I can do to ensure a positive outcome?
🔥 Should I wait for the HR process to play out or take further action?
I’m relieved that a few nurses are backing me up and planning to speak to HR as well. I’m hoping for a resolution that allows me to continue working in a safe and supportive environment. Your insights and suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Let’s support each other in challenging times like these. 💪👩⚕️
>This PCT is very well known for blatantly not doing her job. Numerous nurses have went to management about it and countless other departments and patients families have complained for how rude she is on the phone. I don’t think there’s one shift that at least one person hasn’t complained.
>She spends her whole shift just sitting looking at her phone or clings on to certain nurses and just gossips all day.
>I’ve been told by my manager they have had multiple sit downs with her to work on improving her behavior.
Your coworker is very valued by your management and/or your employer as a whole. No one accidentally survives years of bad performance, nurse complaints, patient complaints, and numerous management interventions.
So, are you as valuable as she is? Do you want to work in a place where she is the protected jewel?
How can someone who does nothing but be a shit starter be a treasured jewel.
