#Mugshot #CareerOpportunities #RecordExpunged #JobSearchStruggles #RebuildingMyLife
Hey there, I am so sorry to hear about the struggles you are facing due to your mugshot. It’s definitely a tough situation to be in, but I want you to know that there are options available to you. Let’s go through some steps and tips on how you can navigate through this difficult time and start rebuilding your life and career.
Getting Your Record Expunged
The first step you mentioned is getting your record expunged. This is definitely a great step, as it will remove the public access to your mugshot and arrest record. It’s important to stay hopeful during this process, as it can take some time, but once it’s done, it will make a significant difference in your job search.
Utilizing Online Reputation Management Services
While waiting for your record to be expunged, you can consider using online reputation management services. These services can help push down negative search results, such as your mugshot, and highlight your positive attributes and accomplishments. It’s a great way to take control of your online presence and show potential employers the true you beyond the mugshot.
Job Search Strategies
In the meantime, it’s important to strategize your job search. Here are some tips to help you navigate through the job market with a mugshot on your record:
1. Be Transparent
When applying for jobs, it’s crucial to be transparent about your situation. You can address the issue in your cover letter or during the interview. Explain the circumstances surrounding your mugshot and emphasize the steps you are taking to rectify the situation. Honesty and accountability can go a long way in impressing potential employers.
2. Network
Utilize your network to find job opportunities. Reach out to friends, family, former colleagues, and mentors to see if they have any leads or can vouch for you. Personal connections can often open doors that may otherwise be closed due to your mugshot.
3. Consider Alternative Career Paths
If you are facing difficulties in finding traditional employment, consider alternative career paths that may be more forgiving of your past. You mentioned the idea of becoming a bartender, and while it may not be your first choice, it could provide a source of income while you work towards your career goals. Additionally, there are various industries and freelance opportunities that may be more open-minded about your past.
4. Seek Legal Advice
It’s crucial to seek legal advice regarding your rights and options when it comes to employment discrimination based on your criminal record. There are laws in place to protect individuals with a criminal history from unfair treatment in the job market, and a legal professional can provide guidance on how to navigate these issues.
Rebuilding Your Confidence
Dealing with the aftermath of a mugshot can take a toll on your mental well-being. It’s important to prioritize self-care and rebuilding your confidence during this challenging time. Here are some ways to focus on your mental health:
– Seek therapy or counseling to address feelings of guilt and depression.
– Engage in activities that bring you joy and fulfillment.
– Surround yourself with supportive and understanding individuals who can uplift and encourage you.
Remember that your past does not define your future. It’s a challenging road, but with determination and the right support, you can overcome the obstacles posed by your mugshot and create a bright and successful future for yourself.
Final Thoughts
I understand how overwhelming and disheartening it can feel to have your mugshot impacting your career opportunities. However, there are steps you can take to navigate through this difficult situation and come out stronger on the other side. Whether it’s getting your record expunged, utilizing reputation management services, strategizing your job search, or focusing on rebuilding your confidence, there are options available to you as you work towards rebuilding your life and career.
I hope these tips offer some guidance and support as you navigate through this challenging time. Remember that you are not alone, and there are resources and professionals available to help you along the way. Stay strong and keep moving forward, and I am confident that you will overcome this obstacle and find success in your career endeavors. Wishing you all the best on your journey! ✨🌟
Is there any way to contact the website and have it removed?
I think you can go through a Google process and get personal information removed from search, it will still exist but it won’t show up in search. Research: “Google remove personal information”. You can also change your name legally.
How many employers Google their prospective employees? I bet like none unless it’s for Google. They look at your resume and then if you interview you and they like you, they will run a background check. If your not convicted then it won’t even show up unless it’s for a big boy out fit like law enforcement ect. Period. You are just over thinking it and talking yourself out of getting work.
You are truly overthinking it. Employers reject candidates on a whim- nobody will bother googling you. At most, they check on linked in but those are for certain professional jobs
Get a bunch of social media to push it down the ranking on google. If you are in the EU ask for it to be taken down.
Military an option? You must be in good shape (ie have a nice body) if someone offered to fly you out of state to become a dancer. So the military, like the Air Force, will pay you to teach you… I mean pay you to teach you. Something to think about maybe. Interesting decision though given the current state of affairs in the world.
Other things you do is put out positive branding and strong messaging that shows you changed. We’ve all screwed up in the past. Take ownership of that story and tell me how you came through it to get where you are. That’s something people want to hear
Just anecdotal, but I don’t have a mugshot online, and have still gotten rejected for at least 50 jobs the last couple years.
Change your name
See if DeleteMe (a privacy website service) can get it removed from the non-governmental website.
I was on the news and served 5 years in prison. 8 years free, I make 30 an hour and I’ve never had a problem getting a job. Have 19 felonies and even worked for Amazon l. No fucking problem. Keep your head up!
Go by a different name, like use your middle name instead of the first name. I just recently found out from a recruiter that having the same name as a pornstar is probably why I don’t hear back much anymore. They suggested I use a different name, and now I actually hear back on applications.
Put a different name on your resume. You don’t have to put your full legal name on it. People sometimes use middle name, and initial for last name.
try a trade
So, funny enough I just went through the same thing except instead of a mugshot it was just an arrest record.
I emailed the publication’s editor and said, “My apologies for reaching out to you, but I’m not sure who would be the person to handle such a request.
On May 25th 2017, the XXXXX had posted an article online detailing the Arrests Reported for the XXXXXX Police. Unfortunately for me, I was in there. As someone with no online presence, it is now the only thing that links to me with a Google search. I was wondering if it was possible to have my information redacted from this article?”
They got back to me 2 days later and said they would unpublish the article and contact Google to update it’s search results. And now there is nothing linked to me during a Google search anymore.
Use another name. Any other name. At least get in the door, then if you get an offer and they need to run a bgc you can explain.
My only advice would be to open some accounts, even fake or one’s u don’t intend to use, Facebook, Twitter, IG, LinkedIn, put your full name and some professional looking pics.. start a blog. When I started my business that all that showed up, the newspaper articles and our website, I don’t have that business anymore and my face doesn’t even show up when I Google myself.
OP, there is definitely hope. I sued a former employer for brazenly violating the FLSA labor laws (they settled on the courthouse steps right before the trial for a 6 figure sum that started with a 2, feelz good man) and let me tell you, if there is something that makes you radioactive, it is taking an employer to court!
I employed a lot of different strategies to get out from under that…here is what worked:
1. Don’t change your name, unless you want to start from 0. Not an option for me, as I had built a career making 300k with no certs and no college degree. You can’t just do that all over again in your 30s. If you have NO job history (you’re doing life wrong) ….but in that case, a name change isn’t all that bad. If you have a relatively common name, just start throwing your middle initial in there or make some other minor change, like making an “I” a “Y” or something.
2. SEO, POSITIVE SEO. Get your (new) name and photo all over the net. Change the profile info on every account you own to reflect your new name. Throw up a few ridiculous websites…you don’t have to write any of the copy or code, just have chatGPT do it. include a few </hidden “your name” “your name” “your name”> so that they appear higher in the search results because repetition is a key in gewgle’s algorithm, so those sites will swamp any mug shots.
3. Post mad amounts of videos on youtube, nothing risque….just innocent stuff revolving around a hobby. Make sure the title includes your name.
4. Have friends start businesses. Not serious ones, but just do the paperwork for them. They don’t have to be successful, most businesses aren’t, but they do have to list them on linkedin, with you and your slightly altered name in a prominent role. This will benefit both you and them. Experience > education ALWAYS.
5. Get that shite expunged. If you weren’t convicted, you can file yourself to have it expunged. Don’t be a pussy, just ask chatGPT how to do it….it only involves paperwork, dahling.
…these strategies not only worked to get me back in the style to which I was accustomed, they also allowed me to get TS cleared…and I was arrested a rack of times for things I wasn’t exactly guilty of when I was your age. If it works for the DoD, it works for whatever you are trying to do…unless you WANT to dance for a living, which I don’t see a problem with. 😉
Counseling. This shit is mostly in your head. Unless you did a sex offence to a kid, you are not being gangstalked and character assassinated. Getting work is about selling them on who you are, sad but true, you’re going to have to change the way you feel about yourself and how you present yourself to others, and as for moving out of state, that might work, but your biggest enemy will come along with you; hint, it’s yourself.
Change ur name. If the positive outcome has to come from an extreme and sudden measure, do it.
Report it to google ASAP! I personally went through the same thing. Explain to them that it is affecting your career and you were not convicted. Those mugshot websites are predatory and have the same owner that cycle them through several other sites typically owned in the Cayman Islands. It’s so wrong.
It is okay. I went through hell too. But You will be okay.
Dude, you should become an expert in something that you can learn at your own pace. Take some time for yourself, get any old job to pay the bills, and free time for learning and getting really damn good. Get so good that you’ll get hired quick for your abilities and you can leave the past behind, hopefully! Get other things to show up when you’re googled, make a blog, put your ideas out there, be the person you are online and get recognized for your killer contributions!
I think your question is answered; but I do remember one time when my brother was arrested with a joint on him. Somehow, the local newspaper blundered so badly they published that he was arrested for possession of **a brick of cocaine**.
One of the organizers in our church decided to start gossiping about our family. She’s basically the real-life version of Helen Lovejoy for reference. Even when my parents showed her and the priest the police report that said he was arrested for weed; the priest refused to do anything about her continuing to spread lies. IIRC we got the paper to fix their mistake (though personally I think we should have pushed for libel).
We eventually switched churches. I’m agnostic myself, my parents are very religious privately but I think they stopped going to church all together a few years later.
Anyway I can empathize with you OP. Even if it isn’t affecting your job search, just the feeling that it might be is extremely stressful. I want you to know that my brother is doing okay right now. He’s had ups and downs, recently had a rough breakup where he was cheated on; but he’s working on a cruise ship which he really loves for the adventure!
bartenders make a KILLING. and you can work in any state, or a cruise ship, or ski resort, or casino, in a fancy hotel, or in a cabin in the middle of nowhere
dancers… idk i frequent a non-nude bikini bar, and the girls do really well, but you gotta be desperate to sit on old fat dudes laps and let them smack your butt. i wouldnt suggest it.
