Have you ever wondered why society seems to be set up in a way that benefits the rich more than it does the less fortunate? 🤔 It’s a question that many of us have pondered, and it’s certainly worth exploring further.
Here are a few reasons why society may be designed to make the rich richer while neglecting those who are less fortunate:
– The rich have more power and influence, allowing them to shape policies and systems in their favor.
– Greed and selfishness can drive individuals to prioritize their own wealth accumulation over the well-being of others.
– The belief in a meritocracy can lead to the misconception that those who are wealthy deserve their riches, regardless of the circumstances.
But imagine a world where society was focused on lifting up those who are less fortunate, rather than continuing to enrich the already wealthy. It would undoubtedly lead to a more equitable and thriving society for all.
One possible solution could be implementing policies that redistribute wealth more evenly, such as:
– Increasing taxes on the wealthy to fund social programs and support those in need.
– Implementing a living wage to ensure that all individuals can afford their basic needs.
– Providing access to quality education and healthcare for everyone, regardless of their socio-economic status.
What are your thoughts on this topic? How do you think society can work towards making a more equitable wealth distribution system? Let’s spark a conversation and work towards a better future for all. 💡🌍 #IncomeEquality #SocialJustice #FairEconomy
it’s by design. The rich control society, and as such, they make it so they get more and more rich, and the poor become more and more poor.
Because regardless of the era or economic system – Those in power leverage it to create conditions so they retain their control over the masses.
Money is power so getting as much as possible makes you more powerful. And power is addictive – all those sycophants around. Just look at Elmo on Xitter. Laws stop applying to you.
Also, it’s a game. My colleague (few hundred M worth) explained it to me: worth is like a score in a game. After playing for so many years, that’s the only thing that exists – getting higher one that their peers. Their whole life was just doing it, that’s also the reason that they many cannot just retire – they don’t know anything else. They will work their way to early grave instead of giving up.
Of course there is a fair share of psychopaths who just believe they are better than the hoi polloi.
How would you go about doing that? You’re going to force those who made a whole bunch of money give it up? Going to give everybody handouts from the government? We see how badly that fucked inflation didn’t we. The fact of the matter is that capitalism unchecked inevitably devolves into feudalism.
Power attracts power via incentives in the same way that mass attracts other mass via gravity.
Power. Unelected people can decide how much of the profit is distributed because they have the authority to do so.
The error in the question is imagining that society was “set up” in some sort of benevolent fashion.
It’s always been people trying to live together in peace only to see that taken over and corrupted by those who want to enrich themselves and gain power over everybody. Nothing is really done to prevent it. It’s like people WANT it that way, just in case they get lucky and win the lottery or something.
Show me one society in history that literally tried to make the less fortunate richer. Just not how the world works.
The clue is in the name, capitalism. The goal of this society is to accumalate wealth/capital. It’s not a good goal, even the tiny minority who achieve it realise it’s emptiness. It’s a class system, you need to be in the ruling class to benefit from it. The rest of us are wage slaves to the ruling class. If you want to change this system, you need to read up then join the revolution. Capitalism cannot be reformed, it always finds a way out.
Because that’s how capitalism works. What you’re describing is Socialism…which is a bad word in some countries.
Because the rich control society, and they benefit (short term) from oppression
Because people have allowed it i am 53 in my life i have watched society completely decay into a greed ridden shitpit, and was not always this way in my early years
Put simply: Greed
Because we don’t have democracy. In the words of Abraham Lincoln, government of the people should be for the people and by the people.
If we took policy decisions in the interest of the majority of the people then it would be set up to support the less fortunate.
Decisions are made in the interests of the people who make them. So if we want decisions to be made in the interests of the people they have to be made by the people, or at least by people who are actually representative of the people.
Instead we have capitalism. The essence of capitalism is that there is a class of people whose sole contribution is to own things, while everybody else has to produce things.
Owning requires no effort. it requires no time. The management and maintenance of what you own can be purchased from producers like everything else. There is no practical limit to the amount of stuff one person can own.
But ownership power lets you extract from what producers produce. In the original case it was ownership of land and producers could not produce unless they paid a tithe to the owner of the land that they farmed. Nowadays the ownership power is money. And you cannot live or work without money, and they own it and you don’t. Even if they don’t own it, like banks, they control it and you must pay a proportion of everything you produce to the money controller.
As a result owners get richer and own more stuff and everyone else gets poorer owns less stuff and owes more to the rich.
If you want to fix it we need to have real democracy.
That’s capitalism baby!!
Someone has to suffer.
because the rich are the one who design the system to benefits them.
Vote
Because if you get rich you’ll rest. Can’t have the serfs not working.
Because the only way they can live so overly luxurious lives is by stealing all of our energy. Think about it: if we were even there were be more demand for these things AND they would have less buying power. They want it this way, idc what people tell me anymore. And no, I’m not afraid.
1) Society is not “set up” to do anything. Capitalism is about mutual benefit. You produce a product or service, I buy you products or service because I value that product more than the money in my pocket. If enough people buy my product or service I can make a lot of money.
2) The truth is that as the rich get richer we all get richer. All jobs are created by the wealthy. Have you ever worked for a poor man?
They wouldn’t have it as good. Statistics and percentages never change. It’s how the system is set up. Don’t get me wrong, you can “assend” the eshalons of society but at the cost of others. The game isn’t necessarily rigged but the odds come at a cost some people refuse to bear.
I don’t think it’s some master plan. Wealth is power. Power gets used to make wealth.
Because the rich control society to a large degree and have shown little interest in changing things through the ages. It’s a cultural thing and seeing how spread and everlasting it is, probably something biological as well.
We people are creatures obsessed with status. Having power is something we either strive for and are innately attuned to. Having a lot of money grants a lot of power and luxury which breeds jealousy. We all want to be on the top of the hill, but for that to happen there has to be a hill in the first place so we as humans create one. Even if we’re on the bottom of the hill, we still want there to be one. The rich are slave to this compulsive need just as those at the bottom. We are simply collectively not evolved enough to stop caring about that hill and the status that comes with standing on top of it.
Because the rich don’t WANT to share their wealth. They are selfish, empty people who want to have a bigger number than all the other people and bigger and shinier toys. And if a bunch of poor people have to suffer because of it… oh well, they should have been born into a better life or worked harder or some imaginary bullshit.
Because the rich set it up and control it.
1st rule of economics : people make decisions to maximize benefits to oneself
Because the rich make the rules.
