Is this staffing agency requesting my SSN for a background check a potential scam? Should I be concerned about providing personal information for a job offer? How can I verify the legitimacy of this staffing agency and their partnership with their client? Does their insistence on my SSN raise red flags? Should I trust this recruiter’s requests? #StaffingAgencyScam #SSNBackgroundCheck #JobOfferConcerns #LegitimateRecruitmentPractices #ProtectingPersonalInformation
Thats common
Maybe check LinkedIn and client website to see if person you interviewed is legit. Not 100% as you can fake anything, but probably easier ways to steal SSNs.
“I also wanted to just get an email with the domain to confirm it was legit but the recruiter was getting angry saying I didn’t trust him”
I thought meh, pretty normal. Until I read that ^. IDK man, it is normal to give a SSN for a background check but the unknown staffing agency, clients never had a video, and refusing to provide partnership with the excuse of “you don’t trust me?!” is f* WEIRD.
Just namedrop the staffing firm and between all of us, we can probably verify if they’re a legit company or not.
Asking for SSN as part of background check is rather expected, but normally I’ve been given links to third party companies where I fill out that information myself.
Giving your SSN over email to the recruiter, scam fro sure. Giving SSN to a background checking company thats normal. Seems sketchy.
DANGER DANGER.
Do not reply to staffing agency texts or emails about jobs that you never heard of. They can be scam artists. If a big well known agency that is a different story. Most reqs on job boards from companies you never heard of I count as scammers.
Anyone know if Integrated Resources Inc is legit or not?
My advice is to go with more known agencies like Robert Half or TekSystem. I told the recruiter up front I was not comfortable putting in my SS till I had a job offer and he said to put a fake one in no problem. If they are pushy it’s a red flag. My BIGGEST advice is to go to their office and meet them and do the paper work that way. The only reason I put my information in, was because I been to their office some years ago.
