#TwoWeekNotice #EmployeeRights #Resignation #Termination 🤔
Have you ever wondered why companies expect or encourage a two week notice when you quit, but won’t give one when they fire you? 🤷♂️ It literally makes no sense to me!
Here are a few reasons why companies may have this double standard:
– Companies may want to maintain a positive relationship with departing employees to ensure they leave on good terms and potentially return in the future.
– Giving a two week notice can help companies with the transition process and ensure that work doesn’t fall through the cracks.
– Some companies may have policies in place that require employees to give a notice before resigning.
Possible solution:
– One possible solution could be for companies to provide employees with a notice period before termination, similar to the two week notice expected from employees who resign. This could help employees prepare for their departure and find new job opportunities without the abruptness of being fired.
What are your thoughts on this issue? Do you think there should be more equality in notice periods between resigning and termination? Let’s discuss! 💬 #EmployeeAdvocacy #JobSecurity #CompanyPolicies
I mean, do you really wanna be there if you know you’ve been fired?
Hypocrisy.
Also the reason to ignore the policy and quit the day you wish to leave.
And if you dont give them the two weeks and have to list that as a past employer, you have to worry about them givin you a bad reference to your next employer.
Start establishing other forms of income. Its not as difficult as you might think. Rich people dont rely on one income. And we’re already at the point where a two income household isnt cuttin it.
It’s a security risk and realistically you aren’t going to put in your best work if you know you are being fired. A hostile employee can do a lot of damage on their way out the door.
They want to get all their “ducks in a row”. They don’t give a fuck about you. It’s all about how can you make their life easier after you’re gone. Did you do all this hard work that we didn’t ask you about (to make your job easier) and put it in electronic form? How about giving it to us? No, and if they were smart, things like that wouldn’t be on any work computers, only removable drives.
You know these asshats have no problem letting you go immediately if it suits them. The worst part is when you get to work and they immediately send you home. Why didn’t you assholes give me all my stuff in a box the last time I was here so I didn’t have to come in this morning?
Companies do things in the name of business that would earn you or I a psychiatric evaluation.
In their minds the most important thing they can do is protect the company and this is just one of the many bullshit ways they do that. It’s all for the company and they’ll never understand anything different.
It depends. My last 2 jobs I got laid off from. In both cases, I got salary for another 2 months
Because they have all the power
Companies only want to protect themselves, that’s why there are unions to prevent them from exploiting the workers.
Never give notice unless you are required by contract that is legally binding to do so.
Depends on the situation.
If it’s somewhere that, I think I might want to come back to you someday I’ll give a two weeks notice.
It’s hypocrisy, as others said.
What I have done where I had input is to provide the outgoing employee with 2 weeks severance, to make things fairer.
When firings are rare especially, the amount of money is insignificant to operations. But it’s a more humane thing to do. And other staff notice this behavior, even if management thinks they don’t.
Also not lie and try to hurt them even more when responding to UI for their benefit filing.
Would never give a day if it wasn’t on paper, in Sweden we have 3 months as a full time employee.
Yeah… When I’m ready, if I like them, I’ll let them know the day I leave. If I don’t like them, i go in, start cleaning all my stuff and collecting all my things. Go to lunch and never come back.
Fuck them!
I did get (almost) a two week notice when I found out I was getting let go. The network at my office was down all day on that Monday and my boss couldn’t call to deliver the news until I got the network back online the next day.
we had “Tom”….”Tom” ran everything from his laptop…EVERYTHING
brilliant. Until when they decided (accidently, its claimed…??)
to let “Tom” go, and decided to tell him via wattsapp
all BEFORE turning off “Tom’s” access to / control of…
……………everything.
Fun to see how quickly cocky bosses come-the fuck- apart in real life.
and i mean tears and tantrums.
It’s a holdover from when work ethic actually garnered some respect from employers. The current culture is to treat employees like meat robots until they burn out, then throw them away. They can ‘encourage’ whatever they want; chances are I’m leaving because my company doesn’t respect what I bring them, so when I’m done , I’m out.
