Hey everyone, does the hell ever end? 🙁 I’ve been unemployed since January 2023, and it feels like I’m stuck in this never-ending cycle of job applications and rejections.
Here’s what I’ve been going through:
– Constantly applying to jobs, tweaking my resume, cover letters, and portfolio
– Having interviews that seem promising, only to be rejected later on
– Trying for minimum wage jobs and gig work, but with no luck so far
I’m running out of savings and feeling desperate. 😔 So, have any of you been through a similar situation and come out on the other side? Any tips or advice on how to stay motivated and keep pushing forward?
Possible solutions that might help:
– Networking: reaching out to connections and attending industry events
– Upskilling: taking online courses or certifications to enhance your skill set
– Volunteer work: gaining experience and expanding your network
Let’s support each other through this tough time! 💪🏼 #StayStrong #YouGotThis
Minimum wage jobs aren’t hiring you because you are overqualified. Sucks, but true.
I felt this in my soul. I’m back to diving Uber for almost nothing just to have some money to pay bills. I’m super thankful my wife has her job that pays well. But with everything going on, she doesn’t have job security. We hate all of this
I’ve been laid off a few times, each stint of unemployment longer than the last. Something unexpected might come out of the blue. That’s usually what happens. But that’s not to say there aren’t some leads and promises that turn out to be a waste of time.
Its gonna be tough returning home, parents get grumpy over the ages.
I don’t know either wtf is going on with this job market. „Unfortunately…” type of emails I get almost every week. I am also qualified and definitely competitive. My skills and experience are very strong but shit is just keep repeating each month since I started to send resumes in November 2023.
Theyre not wanting to hire unless it’s an illegal immigrant at a 3rd the average pay.
Why you think they’ve flooded in and are being supported and sponsored? Forbes saying how great illegal immigration is for the economy? Lol….
It’s all so obvious but so few of us want to admit it, acknowledge it, call it out…..moat probably think the elections will change anything…..
As a former background investigator. Don’t forget to change up references. All too often people think they list a great reference when really it’s a bad one. From no call backs, to references that can’t seem to answer anything about you to ones that are a bit too honest.
You screening out ghost jobs? Calling each place you apply to right after to say hi, I’m so-and-so and would love to come in for interview about this position?
Networking with people in your field? Sounds like you’re doing this…should be attending conferences, local/national groups, etc.
I’d probably snap at your parents,” Do job hunting yourself if you’re so sure businesses are hiring. You’re convinced they’re desperate. My experience is they’re lying, ghost jobs instead of real jobs.” Heck, share some articles showing recruiters and HR managers think it’s *morally acceptable* to lie about whether they’re hiring.
I’d also start your own business, if nothing else–at least marks you employed, can do that until get better job offer. Or at least volunteer, mark yourself working.
I relate so much!! I’ve been unemployed since the beginning of January this year and I can’t stop to think about what to do with my life because everything seems so uncertain. I can’t even move back home cause it’s 2,000 miles away and I still look forward to what home is. I hope living doesn’t make having a job the only thing that’s important to life.
Usps will hire anybody
Can I just say how impressive you are for having had a year and a half of savings?!
My mom always said that any time her and my dad ever had any savings, they had to use it on some unexpected event, but that she was grateful they’d always had the money.
My former colleague used to tell me that things fall apart so other things can fall together better.
None of those things will make you feel better right now, I know. And the job market is a trash fire right now while companies try to reprice labor back to the rates before the Great Resignation.
Just— I’m sending all my best for you. And I hope your next chapter is right around the corner.
