Hey everyone! 🖥️💼 I need some advice on whether I should take this helpdesk job opportunity that just came my way. Here are some things to consider:
– Majority Mac user base, different tech stack from what I’m used to 🍏💻
– Commutable location 🚗
– Hybrid work arrangement, 2 days in the office and rest WFH 🏠
– Salary of £40k, higher than my previous job at £35k 💰
– Will be the sole service desk person in the UK for a largely US-based company 🌍
I have a background in service desk roles, but I’m a bit hesitant about being the only IT person in the UK with my manager based in the US. Should I take the leap? 🤔
Also, I have more interviews lined up, including one for an IT Systems Engineer position.
What do you think I should do? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated! 🤗 #CareerAdvice #TechJobs #ITCareers #HelpDeskOpportunity #DecisionMaking
Easy commute, hybrid, laid back, and a raise. What’s the problem? 🙂
Hold off on the helpdesk for now. Focus on Systems Engineer interview. But, if you want to learn new things (Mac OS, JAMF), the helpdesk could work (ask about growth!).
take it, you can always quit 2 hours in on day one if you have a better option
Take the offer you can always resend it if you get a better offer.
In this economy I am not skipping a job until I have a better one lined up.
Hell in this economy I would be tempted to try and work both jobs long enough to make sure one isn’t going to just end up in a layoff.
100% take it. With those conditions & this market you’d be crazy not to.
