Imagine bidding adieu to your current role with a sense of grandeur and poetic flair. Here’s a sample template to get you started:
“To the Esteemed [Recipient’s Name],
It is with a heart laden with both gratitude and solemnity that I pen this missive to tender my resignation from my post as [Your Position] at [Company Name], effective [Last Working Day, e.g., the 31st of July, 2024].
Forsooth, the time hath come for me to embark upon a new chapter in the grand tapestry of mine existence. The years I have spent within the hallowed halls of [Company Name] have been replete with both challenge and triumph, and I am forever beholden to thee and mine esteemed colleagues for the manifold opportunities and camaraderie bestowed upon me.
I shall endeavor to ensure a seamless transition of mine duties and stand ready to assist in the training and guidance of mine successor, shouldst thou deem it necessary. Pray, accept my deepest thanks for the trust and support rendered unto me during my tenure.
May the future of [Company Name] be ever bright and prosperous.
Yours faithfully,
[Your Full Name]”

That’s Middle English, though.
Middle English, AI, or whatever, this made me laugh 😂 I imagine myself send this to my manager on the day I resign
That’s not even Middle English.
“HWAET! ICH QUITTE. BITE MINE FUNDAMENTE, -ÆLFRICH”
There you go.
But why? What’s the point?
Just use an obscure font or language. Doubt theirs a rule as it MUST BE in English. I like Latin.
This is maybe English from the 1700s.
Reminds me of a scene from the tv show Cheers where one of the waitresses (Diane) uses Latin phrases in her resignation letter. (A later resignation letter of hers included graphs.)
If you have to write one, definitely be extra. 🤣
And…you’re fired.
You could go the whole hog and do it in Ogham.
This takes me back to a colleague of mine who resigned in pirate. It was a joy to read. He sent me a copy, I really should dig it out from wherever it is stored.
