Hey everyone! 👋 Need some advice on finding a career in my mid-30s. I’ve been stuck in college for a while, dealing with debt and only have an associates degree to show for it. Not to mention, living paycheck to paycheck in a not-so-great apartment.
Here are a few factors to consider:
– I’m on the autism spectrum and struggled to find support from the local community
– I’m tired of customer service and looking for a more fulfilling career
– Writing is my passion, but I don’t see it as a viable career option
– Tech interests me, but I need hands-on training
– Math isn’t my strong suit, but I dream of becoming an investor someday
Possible solution:
– Consider a career in technical writing, where you can combine your love for writing with tech knowledge
– Look into vocational training programs that offer hands-on experience in tech fields
– Explore entry-level positions in finance or investing to get your foot in the door
– Leverage your unique perspective and skills as someone on the autism spectrum to find a career that suits you
Do you have any advice or suggestions for finding a career that pays at least 60k a year? Let’s brainstorm together and help each other out! 💼🚀
Accounting? Take the Strength Finders assessment to see what your strengths are and that could help you pick something on it. Or maybe something like x-ray technician?
Not all trades are required to go in people’s houses. You work out of a shop. My brother is on the spectrum, and he studied tool and die making. Great field. You can learn as an apprentice or a two year program. Hourly, they start at about $25/hour. I have heard with the right experience people being paid $50 plus/hour.
Have you tried freelancing as copywriter? Then while you are workimg, maybe you can create a blog – write articles about something (have a niche), earn through affiliates.
Some ways you can monetize your writing:
Have a niche
Create a facebook account
Write about somehing (your niche). [Here’s a sample](https://www.facebook.com/LJWritersBlossoms?mibextid=JRoKGi)
Keep doing it until you build followers and high engagement. Once you have an audience, you can ear through affiliate marketing, sponsorships. etc.
There are many ways to write, blogging, tweeting, even videos with your writing in it. But yoh’ll.have to learn how to present your writing in a wags that will resonate to people.
Social media is powerful.

My advice is don’t jump into and quit your current job. Study it, learn it, be consistent. It may not be easy with autism, we always have to jump.into new things, but with writing, I think you’ll do fine. You can free your mind – if you feel that itch to quit cause something else caught your attention, write about it. There is so much freedom in writing ❤️
Maybe try general labourer in construction work or lawn maintenance. These jobs might be hard work but you get paid well. Another recommendation would be automotive service technician and welding.
