#CareerChange #NewBeginnings #CareerAdvice
Hey everyone! 👋 I need some career change advice. I graduated with an Engineering degree over a decade ago, but I’ve been out of the industry for the past 2 years. I’m ready to switch things up, but I really don’t want to go through another coding test. Any suggestions for what I can do next?
Here are some things to consider:
– Have you thought about exploring project management roles? Your engineering background could be a great asset in overseeing complex projects.
– Do you have strong communication skills? Maybe a career in sales or marketing could be a good fit for you.
– Considering your location in Canada, have you looked into opportunities in the renewable energy sector or infrastructure development?
What do you think? Do you have any other ideas or recommendations? Let’s help each other out! 🌟 #CareerChange #AdviceNeeded

How about the insurance industry?

Apply to STEM teaching jobs. Education is especially great if you want weekends and holidays off and a consistent work schedule.

If you haven’t worked for 2 years then I wouldn’t rush into working for someone else. Better to spend another 6 months planning and launching your own small thing.
Even if you set up a dog walking business you’d probably be better off in a year than most jobs you could walk into.
If you set up something where you can send other people to fulfil while you manage the back end, it could scale into something making you good income without breaking your back in fairly short order
Technical Program Manager
Nursing
I so badly want to change fields as well

Thought to try NDT – non-destructive testing? Pay is very good and you could get to travel the world. My hubby does NDT in aviation (started off in oil/gas). He’s worked all over the US, Belize, Dominican Republic, Saudi, Taiwan and Qatar. Currently in India. You basically scan/check for cracks and defects in metal and parts, leaving the repair to engineers to handle.

Not immediately but if you do a MBA you could get into investment banking. MBAs always looking for engineers who have strong math and problem solving skills.
