#GirlsWhoCode #TeenCodingPrograms #LiveClassroomSessions
Just finished a Girls Who Code program with my daughter and now my son is itching to get in on the coding action! 🤖 Any recommendations for a similar online program for teenagers that has live classroom sessions? Help a mom out!
Here are some potential solutions:
– Khan Academy offers free coding courses with live events and workshops 🌟
– Codeacademy has interactive lessons for teens with the option for live tutoring sessions 🖥️
– CodingNomads provides online coding bootcamps with live instruction for a more immersive experience 🎓
Any other suggestions or personal experiences to share? Let’s help our kids dive into the world of coding together! 💡

They do summer camps and “Coder’s Ladder” that is weekly year round. K-12
Give your son YouTube, a Red Bull, and vim. He’ll be just fine.
All jokes aside, code academy or a good YouTube channel should be just fine. I really prefer people start with a typed language and I remember watching Alex Lee’s YouTube and his full course on Java. He does a really good job of explaining the concepts.
Edit : generally speaking, unless you are getting private tutoring or talking to an actual person try to stray from paying for a course. Almost all courses are offered for free in some capacity online.
Skillquest has some good programs if your son likes video games!

The Rocket League programming course is great
CS50x or CS50p (Harvard certificate opportunity for free!) it builds an awesome foundation.
Tell him to learn online and you should help him.
Find resources online and make the experience as fun a possible. You gotta hook him to it. Same tactic as the cartels.
By learning online alone, this will develop his capabilities of using internet as a tool and also helps with problem solving. In order to code something and use the internet, you must know exactly what you need to do.
You can see if Code Ninjas has a location near you. It’s at your own pace unless you are taking the summer camp, but camp and normal classes have “Senseis“ on duty to help out and such. I worked for them and they’re great

plot twist – your son is actually interested in girls not coding
Why can’t he do it free?
https://www.codingame.org for all ages. Some are actually games: in Mad Pod Racers you make an AI bot to race other people’s AIs. They add a new game seasonally and have contests on the new ones. Free to enter, everything from cash to job offers as prizes.
My wife is a teacher, and they have a *girls who code* program at her school. But funny enough, they don’t get a lot of engagement so they’ve opened the program to boys. May just be worth asking if he can join.
