Hey everyone! 🌟 So, I recently received an email for an interview for a job I didn’t apply for. 🤔 Here’s the situation:
– The company seems legit, but I don’t remember applying there
– Could it be from LinkedIn or another website where my resume is posted?
– I’m excited for my first interview, but a bit confused
Has anyone else experienced this before? Any advice on how to handle this situation or what steps to take next? Let’s share our insights and help each other out! 💬 #JobInterview #CareerAdvice
I had this happen and I actually got the job. It paid good but that’s where the pros for it ended. Everything else about it sucked. It wasn’t what I had experience with and they lied, saying someone would train me. There was one guy that knew it but he worked from India and during their hours. I’d have to meet with him after hours then still work 8-5 my time. During the interviews that was the one thing I said I really didn’t like about my previous job. Then they had me signing off on audits that were done by other people for systems I didn’t even have access to. Overall the whole company was just a shitshow.
Ask the recruiter how they got your information. If you have your LinkedIn/Indeed profiles public, could be that. They could have bought it from a less scrupulous staffing firm.
It could also be an employment scam which is getting pretty common. If they want to do everything via text/email, no camera interviews, etc that’s a pretty common sign.
if they send you a questionnaire and tell you to fill it out and send it back… and you then get the job without actually speaking with any human over the phone “it’s a scam” Had it happen to me. they used very closely related URL and email addresses and a real name from a recruiter in that company.
LinkedIn prospecting is very common.
I just got this happen to me as well, the recruiter is out of state and I don’t recall applying to this job though I might’ve have. I’m thinking of talking to him anyways but am a bit concerned.
I had this happen to me, was working part time in the summer doing IT, because I forgot to apply for a special ed summer school position, and put the experience on my LinkedIn. The offer ended up being 75k at a well known robotics company that completely catapulted my career from Special Ed to IT making good money.
