I thought about this today while I was looking for that proprietary charger. It can be frustrating when you’re ready to use a device you’ve put into storage, only to realize that you have no idea where the charger is. Whether it’s a smartphone, laptop, camera, or any other electronic device, it’s always a good idea to pack it along with its charger. Here’s why it’s important and how to do it effectively.
Why Packing a Device with Its Charger is Important:
– Keep the device ready for immediate use: When you pack a device with its charger, you ensure that it’s ready for immediate use when you take it out of storage. This can be particularly important if you need to use the device in an emergency or on short notice.
– Prevent damage from mismatched chargers: Using a charger that isn’t designed for a specific device can lead to damage. By packing the original charger with the device, you avoid the risk of using a mismatched charger.
– Avoid the hassle of searching for chargers: Packing the charger with the device saves you the frustration of rummaging through a pile of chargers or frantically searching for the right one when you need to use the device.
How to Pack a Device with Its Charger:
1. Gather all the necessary components: Before packing the device and its charger, make sure you have all the necessary components such as charging cables and adapters.
2. Clean the device and charger: Wipe down the device and its charger to remove any dust or debris that may have accumulated during use.
3. Organize the cables neatly: Coil the charging cables neatly and secure them with twist ties or Velcro straps to prevent tangling.
4. Place the charger in a protective case: If the device’s charger came with a protective case, use it to store the charger along with the device. Alternatively, you can use a small pouch, drawstring bag, or a designated compartment in the storage container.
5. Label the storage container: Clearly label the storage container with the name of the device and include the charger in the label to make it easy to find when needed.
6. Store the device and charger in a cool, dry place: Choose a storage location that is away from direct sunlight, moisture, and extreme temperatures to protect the device and its charger from damage.
Examples of Devices and Chargers to Pack Together:
– Smartphone and its charging cable
– Laptop and its power adapter
– Camera and its battery charger
– Tablet and its USB charging cable
In conclusion, packing a device with its charger is a simple yet essential step to ensure that the device remains in good working condition and is easily accessible when needed. By following the tips outlined above, you can save yourself the hassle of searching for chargers and keep your devices ready for immediate use. Don’t forget to pack the charger along with the device the next time you put it into storage!

Also if it has a lithium ion battery, charge or discharge it to around 50% before you turn it off and store it.
Label the charger just in case.
