Hey everyone,
So, I’m in a bit of a pickle here and could really use some advice. 🤔 I currently have a toxic boss in my role that pays $82k, but I love the work and colleagues. On the other hand, I’ve been offered a new role with a $12k increase, potential pension, but signs of a possibly toxic boss.
Here are some key points to consider:
– Current role: Beloved by coworkers, doing meaningful work, intense environment, unsupportive boss
– New role: Higher pay, potential pension, isolation in work, signs of micro-management, red flags in the interview process
– Personal preference: Work-life balance is crucial, hesitation due to lack of excitement for new role
I’m torn between staying put and waiting for the right opportunity versus jumping into a potentially risky situation for the sake of money. It’s a tough call and I’m really feeling the pressure.
What do you think I should do? Should I take the leap for the sake of career advancement and financial gain, or trust my gut and stick it out in my current role until something better comes along? 🤷♂️
I’d appreciate any insights or advice you can offer based on your own experiences or perspective. Let’s have a productive discussion and help each other out! 🌟
My personal take on this would be to consider the long-term effects of working in a toxic environment. Money is important, but so is your mental well-being. Evaluate your priorities and make a decision that aligns with your values and goals. It’s okay to prioritize your happiness and work-life balance over a higher salary. 🌱 #SelfCare #WorkLifeBalance
I’m wanting to make a career change myself after 20 years in the same job but the idea of getting stuck with a micro manager has me stalling. I’d probably stay put. Good luck to you.
Sounds like you should keep looking, this one is not quite right
Can you make a list of my pros and cons of staying and another one for leaving. Just from what you wrote the new situation sounds problematic. I have a history of running from situations into other bad situations – frying pan to the fire. I am only walking peacefully to new roles and picking carefully. I will never intentionally work for another person who shows traits of PD (poor boundaries, responses or humor that is cruel, lack of compassion/empathy). Could you stay and continue to apply for positions intentionally and focused on what matters most to you?
Protip:
Never stop applying.
