Hey everyone! πββοΈ Just landed my first help desk job at an MSP π I have an associates in IT and was studying for the A+, but now I’m wondering if I should still go for it or focus on getting my CCNA instead π€ What do you think? Here are a few things to consider:
– A+ is a great foundation for IT knowledge and can be helpful in entry-level positions
– CCNA is more focused on networking and can open up opportunities in that specific field
– Consider your long-term career goals and what certifications align with them
Personally, I think it could be beneficial to complete your A+ since you’re already studying for it, but it ultimately depends on where you want to take your career. What do you all think? π¬ #CareerAdvice #ITCertifications #Networking
Iβd just get CCNA. Itβs pretty valuable, at least for getting interviews.
Finish at least studying for the A+ since the information is valuable but do whatever exams they’ll pay for.
Get A+ then other certs.
Skip the A+. Get the CCNA. If you need a primer for the CCNA, get the Net+.
Depends on where you want to go after this job. You could start focusing on those certs
Congrats! And yes. Go for the A+ or any of the COMPTIA certs. Your employer might even pay for it
+1 Net+
I would do CCNA if you want to go into networking.
No disrespect, but why did you stop after receiving your associate degree?
Go ahead and get the A+ its a fairly easy cert and gets you in the door so many places for entry level work. I would get the CCNA as soon as you have the A+
I am on the same page as you. I would suggest skipping the A+ certification. It will mostly get you helpdesk jobs, and since you already have one, it might not be very beneficial. Personally, I am still studying specific topics from the A+ ( since school doesn’t bother teaching those), so I am not missing anything important, but I will be skipping A+ to do CCNA.
CCNA, hands down.
No one will care about an A+ if you already have experience at an MSP *and* a CCNA. MSPs are great for experience. The CCNA is most definitely not an entry level cert broadly speaking, despite the fact that that Cisco will tell you that it is. Some people in networking even keep it updated through their career if they don’t need anything “higher” like a CCNP.
For the record, the N+ is more like a subset of the CCNA. Look at the exam objectives and compare, if you think I’m kidding. Since the CCNA is hands-on, personally I thought it was way more fun to study for, too.
I vote skip and move to something bigger.
You have an associates degree and experience. The content from A+ is beneficial to know however at this point you would be wasting your time getting that cert. aim for more difficult certs like ccna security+ etc. depending on where your interest lies.
No
As others have said, a+ is used to get your first job.
You did that without it, move on. Azure/AWS/Cisco/sec+
Donβt know why no one else has mentioned this but you should finish your degree and get a bachelors. That would give you the most ROI out of any cert you could get, especially since itβs only 2 years away.
