Hey everyone! 🌟
I wanted to reach out because I’m in a bit of a pickle. So, here’s the situation: I interviewed at a company about 7 years ago and now I have another interview lined up with them next week. As part of the application process, I need to fill out an online form, and one of the questions asks if I’ve interviewed there before.
Now, here’s where I get stuck: Do I still say “yes” to that question after all this time? I mean, 7 years feels like a lifetime ago! Is there some kind of “cutoff” for how long ago an interview was before it doesn’t count anymore? 🤔
I’m also wondering if saying I interviewed before would raise any red flags. I mean, does it make me look like I’m desperate or that I couldn’t get in last time? But on the flip side, maybe they appreciate the fact that I’m interested in their company again after all these years.
Here’s what I’m thinking:
- Being Honest Is Key: Honesty is usually the best policy. If I say “no” and they find out later, that could look worse, right?
- Focus on Growth: It’s been 7 years, so I could mention how I’ve grown since then, and why I’m excited to potentially join them now. ✨
- Ask for Clarification: If you’re unsure, maybe it’s okay to reach out to the HR person for some guidance on how to answer that question.
But I’d love to hear your thoughts! Have any of you found yourselves in a similar situation? How did it turn out for you? Any tips on how to handle this kind of thing? Let’s chat about it! 💬
Looking forward to hearing your experiences!
I wouldn’t lie on an intake form for a company I’m hoping will hire me. There is no statute of limitations on the truth.
If they ask they already know. We keep all records of anyone who’s ever applied starting 1997, don’t lie.
Ignorance is no excuse either. If that question was being asked directly by someone you could have taken a chance and bend the truth, but definitely do this on an intake form.
7 years is a long time ago. Say yes but be ready to speak about it in the interview. “It was a fantastic interview, i loved the company and the people and that’s why i applied again. This company is really where i see myself growing and being a successful contributer…” or something like that.
