As an analyst in London – you’re overthinking this. Get the food and the uber, just try not to go too crazy with trying to expense other stuff and maybe don’t get an Uber Exec every time 🙂
I don’t know how it works are your bank but in mine you have an deliveroo allowance and you can use up to that allowance. No one cares if you use the allowance to the cent or every day especially if the people you work with are also in the office. Taxis home same thing. As a summer intern you should not be expensing anything else.
Just follow the flow of what the analysts do and you’ll be fine. I wouldn’t sweat about having dinner on their dime regularly (it’ll get billed to the clients often too)
You’re overthinking it. They’ll give you an allowance and some rules (eg no taxi/uber before 9pm or whatever), you’re well within your rights to use the perks if you respect the rules. They will probably expect you to use them.
No one is ever gonna care about those 2k, what they will care about though is respecting the rules. Just don’t get a limo everyday.
That is nothing, if they don’t extend an offer because you used perks that were advertised, that means it was not worth it already.

Bulge bracket IB VP here. Completely normal for you to take your full meal allowance, and an Uber home. Those perks are there so that you don’t lose your mind when you’re already working 100 hour weeks. Chill out and take the money.

The amount of value you’re going to generate for the firm is definitely in excess of your salary plus Ubers and food and they’re going to make you work hard.
Just take the free food and the cab. It’s literally designed to make your life convenient to help make the firm generate revenue.
Check with HR or your hiring manager. The internal policy may be that interns should not be overloaded with work such that they require OT to that extent. I’m at a BB in another financial hub, and this is what my firm follows. But it may be different from division to division, let alone firm to firm. But doesn’t hurt to check, rather reflects better on you.
