I’m sick of the noise, so here’s my speakers
Living in an apartment building can have its perks, but it also comes with its fair share of challenges. One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is dealing with the constant noise from my neighbors. π’ The family living behind my building has turned their outdoor space into a makeshift living area, complete with loud music, singing, and TV shows blaring at all hours. π« It’s been driving me absolutely crazy, and after trying to reason with them to no avail, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
The Speaker Solution
I couldn’t take the noise any longer, so I took a trip to the electronics store and bought a powerful, high-quality speaker. I knew that if they were going to subject me to their noise pollution, I would have to fight fire with fire. π΅ I set the speaker up by the window nearest to their outdoor space and cranked up the volume, blasting horror movies at full blast. I hoped that by subjecting them to a different kind of noise, they would understand just how frustrating their constant racket has been for me.
The Battle Begins
It didn’t take long for my neighbors to notice the sudden change in noise level. Within 15 minutes, they turned their own music down, clearly affected by the loud horror movie playing from my speaker. π¬ However, as soon as I turned off my speaker, they cranked their music back up even louder than before. This back-and-forth battle continued for a couple of hours, with neither side willing to back down.
Informative Approach
While my method of dealing with noisy neighbors may not be recommended for everyone, there are a few key points to keep in mind when facing similar issues. Here are some important factors to consider:
Understanding Noise Pollution
Noise pollution is a real issue that can have serious effects on an individual’s mental and physical well-being. When dealing with noisy neighbors, it’s important to remember the following:
Constant exposure to loud noise can lead to stress, anxiety, and even sleep disturbances.
Excessive noise can also have long-term effects on overall health, including hearing loss and cardiovascular problems.
Dealing with Noisy Neighbors
Unfortunately, not all neighbors will be considerate of those around them, and trying to reason with them may not always work. In these situations, consider the following:
Document the noise disturbances, including dates and times, to have evidence in case the issue escalates.
If speaking to your neighbors directly doesn’t yield results, consider reaching out to your landlord or building management for assistance.
Exploring Solutions
In some cases, taking matters into your own hands with a solution like a speaker may be necessary. When considering this approach, keep in mind the following:
Be mindful of local noise ordinances and regulations to avoid potential legal repercussions.
Consider alternative methods for sound mitigation, such as noise-canceling headphones or soundproofing your living space.
Moving Forward
As my battle with my noisy neighbors continues, it’s clear that finding a long-term solution won’t be easy. However, I remain hopeful that my efforts will eventually lead to a more peaceful living environment for everyone involved.
In Conclusion
Dealing with noisy neighbors can be a frustrating and challenging experience, but it’s important to approach the situation thoughtfully and considerately. By understanding the effects of noise pollution, exploring potential solutions, and seeking assistance when needed, it’s possible to work towards a resolution that benefits everyone involved. Remember, finding common ground through open communication and mutual understanding is key to creating a harmonious living environment for all. π
All other things aside, the second hand smoke is a health hazzard to you. It can cause lung problems for the rest of your life.
Did they build a shanty at an apartment complex?
Have the local county code officials been made aware of the structure? Perhaps they would like to see a photo of it?
Good plan. I hope that your speaker is at least louder than their tv and what not so it can make it hard for them to hear what they are playing.
Having said that I hope that your neighbors in the apartment building don’t turn against you as the sounds from your speaker may bother them also.
Did you talk to them first?
Youβre on the right trackβ¦. Next do Slayer or some ΓΌber obnoxious EDM, crunchy shit you know
Is it legal for them to build there?
Is the shanty legal? Go through code enforcement as a fire hazard and they may have to remove it. Once the landlord realizes that itβs then who will be on the hook for fire, or any other damage, it will be taken down.
Please play Slayer or, even better in this case, Aborted. That will help for sure!

Be careful, the Gallaghers are known to seek revenge.
Put a fan pointing out in that window too. Go outside and spray some of that fart spray in the breeze.
Liquid Ass spray….
I lived in an apt with extremely thin walls. The neighbor used to scream and yell at the wife and kids. Calls to the cops and childrenβs services were not helpful. So one night I had enoughβ¦ I picked up a night shift, set up some computer speakers and my old iPhone in the bathroom, put a 100 hour Nyan cat video on, and left for work. When I came home at 8:30am it was still going.
The noise didnβt stop but it decreased considerably.
Were there any steps between they moved in and are loud and you blasting sounds of death and destruction?
I appreciate that many stories here have some attempt at a positive solution. Only after the other person has ignored any attempt at reconciliation, then petty revenge.
It seems this story dialed it up to eleven very quickly.
What third world country do you live in?
Can you put up a wall and plant a tree?
A few years ago my spouse and I moved to Tegucigalpa, Honduras in the Los Lomos area. On the second night we woke up to the sounds of a huge shoot out. We were on the 4th floor of or apartment building so we hid and tried to look online to see what was going on outside. Nothing. Checking the usa embassy webpage. Nothing. Right as we are about to pack our bags to GTFO the next day we hear music just as loud. Our rich asshat of a neighbor (huge house not in an apartment) was watching The Godfather. His speakers were so loud we literally thought it was a real life shoot out. Luckily we were able to throw stuff over his wall from our apartment so we had a place to leave all the dog shit from our apartment neighbors from the other side. Fun times. Donβt move to Honduras.
Please update us on what happened! Did they stop being loud, or do they think you’ve just joined them?
Fart spray you say?
Perhaps add documentations about the dangers of smoking including loud forced breathing to the soundmix
Might look up something even better sounding: Sean Lennon? Yoko? Some weird 3rd world death metal?
I did this once to get rid of a bunch of obnoxious teens. I put my Bose in the window and played classical.
Is it even legal for them to build a shanty house on private property with a lot of code violations? Maybe you could report them. Or threaten to if they wonβt turn the volume down.
Remember Darrylβs Torture on TWD? Here is a 10 hour loup that you might set to come on with a timer when you arenβt home-, but you probably want to get a wire camera to capture the action.
Did you try talking to them? You don’t mention that.
And it’s kinda the only thing that would keep you from being the jerk here.
Next time, put on the sound of a chick having an orgasm. Make it super awkward for them to ever go outside again

I did something similar after the landlord rented the flat above where I used to live to a second lot of noise AHs. The first set where young (19) stoners who loved to play the same riff from Californication by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers over and over (and over) again – often at 2, 3, 4am. He eventually gave them the boot after I got a noise abatement order against them.
Then a few months later a new lot moved in how ended up being even noiser. Namely stomping around and dropping things. (We later realised that they were doing work outside and weights up there and just dropping the dumbbells.) They also loved to have their phones on speaker and shout at it. They had some weird gadget in the kitchen that they left whirling for hours. It was just pretty much constant noise when they were in.
We went out to purchase a sound bar so we could hear our TV. We tried to talk to them but they just said they were trying to be as quiet as they could ( they clearly werenβt) and told us they werenβt being that loud. They were completely uncooperative.
I spoke to their landlord several times (him and I didnβt really get on); he promised to speak to the letting agents. Weeks went by and I heard nothing. Eventually I got a message from the landlord saying heβd finally spoken to the letting agents who had in turn spoken for the tenants who just said again that they were trying their best to keep it down. I was sooo mad. It happened to coincide with a day I was trying to work from home and they were being really noisy again.
So queue the petty revenge. I put on really bassy dance music on through the soundbar and turned up the subwoofer and went back into the office room to work. Eventually he came down and complained that it was giving him a headache. I just said all the things heβd said to me back at him. He wasnβt impressed. π€£π€£π€£

How about sounds of people puking? I hate those maybe they do tooπ€π€
I was thinking construction site, leaf blower, siren, baby crying or maybe kid’s bad violin practice but slaughter’s an interesting choice.
