π«π³ Steal my Do Not Disturb sign? Enjoy your breakfast! π³π«
Let me tell you about the time I got the ultimate revenge on a colleague who thought it would be funny to steal my Do Not Disturb sign while we were on a business trip. It all started back in the 2010s when daily housekeeping was the default for hotels, and the only way to turn it down was to hang the DND sign on your door. Keep reading to find out how I got my prankster colleague back by sending an expensive breakfast to his room β a breakfast he had to pay for despite not being around to eat it.
The Setup: Annoying Interruptions
Back sometime in the 2010s when daily housekeeping was the default for hotels, and the only way to turn it down was to hang the Do Not Disturb sign on your door, or tell the front desk to add your room number to the “no housekeeping” list, I found myself on a business trip that turned out to be the perfect opportunity for revenge. Here’s how it all went down:
– I always refuse housekeeping unless I’m in the same hotel for more than a week
– Managed to end up with a couple days off in the middle of a job
– Decided I’d rather just stay in and catch up on rest than go out and about during the day
– Housekeeping knocks on the door on day one despite the DND sign hanging
– DND sign goes missing and the same thing happens on day two
– Caught my colleague pulling the sign from another colleague’s door
The Revenge Plot: Sending a Pricey Breakfast
I knew that my colleague was the kind of guy who ignores hospitality staff at every possible chance, including things like walking out of a hotel without checking out and just leaving his keys in his room. This provided me with the perfect opportunity for revenge.
– Hotel had a little card to order breakfast with checkboxes for what you’d like
– Not hard to get someone’s room number from the front desk when traveling together as a group
– Selected a 7:00am breakfast with all the fixings for my prankster colleague
– Left the hanger up on his door, with his name and room number on it
– The breakfast would cost about $60 including fees, tax, and automatically added tip
– Colleague didn’t bother checking out, meaning he had to pay for the breakfast
– The breakfast went straight to his credit card, and he was livid when he saw the bill a couple days later
In Conclusion: Prankster Pranked
In the end, my colleague learned a valuable lesson about respecting others and not messing with their peace and quiet. This revenge story is a reminder that karma always comes around and that it’s best to treat others with the same respect you expect for yourself. And as for me, I got the satisfaction of knowing that justice was served, one expensive breakfast at a time.
So, the next time you think about pulling a prank, just remember that the consequences might come back to bite you β or, in this case, cost you $60 for an uneaten breakfast.
I hope you enjoyed this revenge tale and that it serves as a cautionary reminder to pranksters everywhere. Thanks for reading, and remember to always respect the Do Not Disturb sign!

Great revenge. You had his eggs cooked – not sure if they were sunny side up though π
Very bad prank from his end. I just came back from a trip to Beijing and they still had those breakfast cards – I hope that you ordered him two breakfasts π

Nice. And since he pranked more than one person, he can’t immediately accuse you!
That trip turned out to be more than he could chew. Nice one!
petty revenge – *best served sunny side up with a side of bacon…*
Nice! I hope he learned his lesson
That was the perfect prank, in that he had no way to identify WHO did it.
I travel with a regular group of jokers for work. One day I had enough. I can’t remember what they did, but I went to the front desk of the hotel and told them I locked myself out of my room, gave them my coworker’s room number and name. We’d stayed there often enough that I must have looked familiar because they gave me his room key without question.
It took me ten minutes to set my prank before I returned to my friends in the bar. The next day my coworker had us rolling in tears as he explained being too drunk to realize why he couldn’t get into the bed. He slept with his legs out the side and only realized when he woke up that I had short-sheeted him.
The yolks on him.
Why I do hope it’s not reciprocated back at you
Hahahahahaha classicππ€£
“Pranksters” are usually just juvenile assholes that only amuse themselves.
That was some truly tasty revenge. I hope you told your associates who was removing their DND signs.
Gloriously petty, my petty pal.
well done
Worked in a hotel, housekeeping, if we saw a guest swiping another guest’s DND sign and placing it on their own door we would turn it around. Oh dear, sorry but your sign said Please Service Room.
Did you tell them to serve it cold?
Nice!!! I hate the housekeeping rules these days. Every time hubby and I try to have a romantic getaway, housekeeping interrupts by banging loudly or calling. It’s so annoying.
So the cost to you was an inconvenience and you made him pay over $60 for food that went straight to the garbage? Youβre not intelligent enough to get revenge without cost and waste of food?
