Can you show/paste your list here?
I do this in an excel spreadsheet with each tab being a different type of trip (mountains, beach etc.) it has been so helpful with not forgetting stuff and wasting money and time buying something I forgot on the trip. I’m a nerdy accountant so I live in excel and most people make fun of me when I tell them I do this but it is so helpful.
We use a grocery app (our groceries). It’s not great but it crosses between android and iPhone so it works for us.
We used to take a beach trip every year so the wife got smart and made some packing lists and we tap the item as we packed it but then at the end we didn’t delete, we just restored the whole list. The kids would have their own (we’d print) then we had bathroom list, clothing and others (games, portable BBQ, etc)
Just to add humor here’s some George Carlin on stuff, he does a good bit on vacations:

My packing list is divided according to the rooms the items are in. That way, I can get everything from one room at a time and I’m not dashing from room to room to collect stuff.
That’s just packing with extra steps.
I take my list with and make notes on what I didn’t use or wish I had/had more of an item.
My carry on backpack stays stocked with charging cords, sunglasses, lip balm, tums, little snack packs, reading material, etc…
I’ve got doubles of all the bathroom essentials in a travel bag ready to go at a moments notice.
Then I just have to pack items specific to the trip in a carry on. Backpack and bathroom essentials are always prepared.
I keep a checklist in the notes on my phone of the essentials for every trip, and then add to it in the lead up to any trip with more specifics I’m likely to forget. It’s kept me from forgetting toothbrush so much! But also helps me remember to pack the one little bauble I want to give to someone, or a specific item I’ll need for an event.
I made my general packing list in the Notes app so that I can check it off as I go
My brain immediately went to the *other* meaning of packing and I was very confused lol
Making a list requires organisation. The reason I’m stressed out is because I’m disorganised and didn’t make a list.

It’s not a list, but I go camping pretty often in the summer, and there are certain things I always need. Those items are kept in my “camping box.” It’s a big plastic bin with a cover. Between trips, everything gets washed and batteries replaced if needed. During the winter, the whole box goes in the basement.
Packaroo is a cool app that helps with suggested items categorized by the type of trip
Yep. We have a Google keep (nee list) which we use for away trips.
It’s awesome, because you tick things off as you pack them. And then when everything is done, UNTICK THEM ALL.
Then when you are packing to return, you can tick them again to ensure you have everything.
My dad has been doing this since I was a kid. It’s so smart!
Babe you need a Dopp kit lol. I have all that (minus cash) in its own bag, ready to go. Saves a TON of time. Just refill things when you get home.
I do this for fishing trips. It’s nice having everything you need. And whatever you miss you add to the list
Type on google image the trip list. It give ideas of things you haven’t thought about.
For ex “camping list”
Did this for an older job where we had to take equipment on cross country trips. First made the general list, which helped, then created site-specific lists, then organized our entire office equipment room to streamline the packing process. Saved time and money while out of town – reducing on-trip purchases and the wasted time leaving the worksite to get forgotten items – and made the packing ahead of time take minutes instead of hours. Didn’t have to arrive at 5 am Monday to the mess of coworkers who arrived late Friday, only to sort through their mess to prep and be on my way by 8. Felt great, and old boss says the system still works and was shared with his first satellite office after I left.
I do this. I keep a second list called “Things to do before Travel” which includes things like close windows, put heat on hold, tell the landlord of my plans, take out the trash, among other things. That way, I don’t get that “what did I forget” feeling.
Such a great idea – I’ve just started one after your suggestion!
