It also killed almost three times more Confederate than Union soldiers.
Good submarine!
but not the first to do that and make it back safely
It’s an amazing tale, so much that I found a poster that’s dedicated to this and it’s hanging on my wall as it’s originally from a museum
It also killed its crew three times
And it is now preserved in an aquatic tank in a museum in Charleston, SC.
There was a very enjoyable (but sad) film made:

I don’t know why it’s called a “submarine”. It was, in reality, a manned torpedo.
Too bad it was better at sinking itself..
Bet those guys were hapy when they got back , er wait wut?
> Sunk three times in less than 2 years
> Killed more of its own crew than the enemy
Completely noncredible
The conservation facility that it’s kept in in Charleston is amazing. The processes that they use to recover artifacts almost defy belief. A really neat way to spend a couple hours.
Technically, it sank two warships at once.
Yeah I guess those pre written history submarines may have sunk a ship or two 🙂
It killed its crew is true but many other attempts to build early submarines were deadly too. The first sub to not kill its crew should be a celebrated achievement !
