#UberFail: Left the boot of an Uber open after driver treated me and my family with contempt 😡
Have you ever had a truly terrible experience with an Uber driver? I recently had one that left me shaking my head in disbelief. Let me tell you all about it.
The Setup: Looking for an Uber Premium
I needed to get my family, which included three adults and two kids, to the airport. To make matters even more challenging, we had a ton of luggage with us. So, I decided to book an Uber Premium for the trip.
The Arrival: A Small Vehicle for Our Group
When the driver arrived, I was surprised to see that he had shown up in a small vehicle. It was clear that there was no way we would all fit comfortably, especially with all of our luggage.
The Conflict: The Driver’s Refusal to Admit Fault
I politely pointed out to the driver that his vehicle was not the one I had booked through the Uber Premium service. However, he refused to admit that he had registered his small vehicle as a Premium option. It was clear that he had cheated me.
The Journey: Discomfort and an Unexpected Pit Stop
Throughout the journey, the driver did the bare minimum to try to make everything fit. We were all incredibly uncomfortable, and our discomfort only increased when he stopped the vehicle for gas just before we reached the airport.
The End: Ignoring Us and Petty Revenge
When we finally arrived, the driver did not bother to assist us with unloading our luggage. He stayed inside the car and looked away while I got everything out. As I left, feeling frustrated and angry, I decided to leave the boot of his vehicle open as a small act of petty revenge.
Why I’m Sharing This Story
I know what you’re thinking. Why am I sharing this story? It may seem like a small incident, but it serves as an important reminder that not all Uber rides go smoothly. It’s important to hold drivers accountable for their actions, especially when they are treating passengers with contempt.
💡 How to Handle a Bad Uber Experience
If you find yourself in a situation similar to mine, here are some tips for handling a bad Uber experience:
Contact Uber Support:
As soon as possible, reach out to Uber customer support to report the incident. Provide as much detail as possible, including the driver’s name, vehicle information, and a description of what happened during the ride.
Rate the Driver:
After the trip, be sure to leave a rating and feedback for the driver. Constructive feedback can help Uber identify problematic drivers and take appropriate action.
Seek Compensation:
If you incurred any additional costs or experienced significant inconvenience as a result of the driver’s behavior, consider reaching out to Uber to seek compensation for your troubles.
Consider Alternative Transportation:
If you have an especially negative experience with Uber, you might want to explore alternative transportation options for your future trips.

Don’t Let a Bad Experience Ruin Your Day
It’s easy to let a negative experience with an Uber driver ruin your day, but remember that there are many other drivers who are dedicated to providing a positive experience for their passengers. Don’t let one bad apple sour your opinion of the entire Uber platform.
Conclusion: Moving Forward
I may have left the boot of the Uber open as a small act of petty revenge, but ultimately, I know that holding the driver accountable through constructive feedback and reporting the incident to Uber was the most important course of action. I hope that by sharing my story, others will feel empowered to do the same if they ever find themselves in a similar situation.
Remember, your safety and comfort as an Uber passenger are important. Don’t be afraid to speak up if you feel that you’ve been mistreated or taken advantage of by a driver. Let’s all work together to ensure a positive and respectful experience for everyone who uses ride-sharing services.
i would’ve shit in his boot.
Did you tell Uber that he was misrepresenting his vehicle?
Uber premium is defined as luxury with more leg room. They still only seat 4 people and often have standard size trunks. You should have ordered an XL. Also, drivers can’t “cheat the system “ with car classification. Uber determines what cars fit under their various categories and only allow you rides within that category. You sought revenge on a driver that did everything right. In fact he went above and beyond trying to fit you all in when you clearly should have ordered a larger car. May you have the day you deserve.
I’m very glad you decided not to shit the boot.
Kidding. Sorry you went through that. I hope you dinged his rating (and talked to Uber about him misrepresenting his vehicle).
Bruh, Premium is not the same as XL… 🤣 And Uber sets the class of the vehicle, not the driver. You are the one who fucked up in this situation.
Surprise surprise uber comfort does not necessarily mean larger vehicle. Unless you ordered specifically an Uber XL, you cannot expect a larger vehicle. My vehicle is small but uber considers it a premium ride and that is has ‘extra leg room’. Do you know drivers can’t enroll their vehicles into these services ? Uber does it for them depending on their vehicles make and model. It sounds like you were irritating to the driver for something that wasn’t his fault, due to your own ignorance, and then proceeded to berate the driver. YTA
give him 1 star for stopping at the gas station.
If you needed a big car, why not get UberXL? Also, why would the driver help you with your luggage?
Hold on, let me get this right:
You incorrectly assumed he could misclassify his car.
You incorrectly confused Uber with ordering a limo. (Uber moves people from place to place, it isn’t a fancy car service that saves you calories by moving your overstuffed bags around for you.)
You chose the wrong type of vehicle to transport a family and a large amount of luggage to the airport.
You were so confidently wrong about all of these things that you felt you should brag about it here.
You get 1 star as an Uber rider for being a dipshit.
Your driver gets 4 stars for even completing the trip, he loses 1 for gassing up on the way.
Op you a moron
There is a Uber Premium Black/Premier SUV option that is catered towards either large luxury vehicles (Black) or large vehicles with highly rated drivers (Premier). Otherwise you could have just ordered a normal Uber XL. This wasn’t petty, but unjustified. Uber offers options that could have easily accommodated your situation, next time just look more closely at the options you’re given.
Shit the boot: I chortled.
WTF are you talking about? if 5 people could fit in with “assortment of luggage”, how the fuck it is a small car, you spineless coward!
everyone beat me to the whole premium is not xl problem here huh
op you’re a moron
Jesus Christ. I’m sorry your rent-a-peasant didn’t kiss your ass.
OP should stay home from now on so drivers don’t have to deal with his entitlement and assholishness. edit typo
Never shit the boot.
I’d definitely be reporting this jerk to Uber OP, and complain.
so you were 4 adults in the car with 2 kids and you were all sitting comfortable
seems like your complain is only that the car did not look expensive enough for your cheap ride-share app
you wanted big AND luxurious
Also for the discounted price you got, compared to a luxury SUV with tinted glass for your galm family, you wanted the driver for some reason to help you 3 adults to figure out your own luggage. That in no way is a requirement for Uber driver.
On top of that you left a one star for a service that was fully able to satisfy your needs in a timely fashion. And you did god know what to his boot.
And he treated you with contempt ?
What a small person, shame on you
Is the boot of a car aka the trunk?
You’re saying you squeezed 6 people into a 5 person car… yet HE was the issue?
What does shit the boot mean?
don’t blame you, but I think Uber decides which vehicles are which tier. what vehicle was in the guys profile? could he have switched to a different one?
I had hoped that you took a shit in his boot.
You could report him for having the wrong information about his vehicle
So it wasn’t big enough to be premium but after all your bags you were comfortable?
I ordered an Uber to the airport in California, the guy had a bunch of stuff in the vehicle! I had four people plus luggage. It’s a miracle we all fit.
I prefer taxis these days.
Wow, you took a cheap car to the airport, were dissatisfied with the inferior service you purchased, then took it out on the worker. Maybe call an actual car service next time if you want someone to treat you like a king.
excuse me, how do you schlep people into a car?
glad to see op getting smoke, like bro, you ordered extra luxary, not extra space. you and that driver deserve 1 star
Stopping for gas is such a crime. Yeah right. A driver could have a quarter tank of gas and get a trip that’s 2 hours long. Uber doesn’t share most of that information prior to accepting a trip in most markets.
Some people take driving Uber seriously, others dont. Some people do this as a full time gig, others just do it cuz they’re bored. Just like some passengers use it daily and others don’t. Some passengers get in and never shut up, while others get in and never say a word.
In any scenario you’re the one without vehicle. This is a rideshare service to get you from point A to point B, nothing more, nothing less. Drivers are not your chauffer or your cab or bus driver. Regardless what you’re paying for the trip, the driver is probably making less than minimum wage. Any tip you may or may not and most likely won’t give doesn’t give you the right to be an asshole.
Drivers don’t HAVE to give anybody a ride before, after, or even during your trip. Appreciate the fact that they’re willing to do so without the sense of entitlement.
It’s pricks like this that make driving for Uber insufferable.
You’re a douche lol
> But petty revenge brings the same kind of joy 😀
good to know there are some common grounds.
Uber Driver here. I don’t get a say in what my vehicle is classified as. That is entirely decided by the company, which is based on the year, make, and model of the vehicle registered with them. There is no driver input on the matter.
The vehicle that showed up very likely is not the vehicle they registered with Uber.
Reminder: Do not get into Rideshare vehicles that do not match the plate number, make, and model of what you are expecting.
Your safety is your responsibility.
I aspire to be this petty 👀
He is lucky all you did was leave the boot open. If he is misrepresenting his vehicle I hope you made a heck is a stink about it reporting him to Uber they did don’t like their name run in the mud by some fraud of a driver
Really dissapointed to learn that “shit the boot” is a not a Britishism for “close the trunk” as i had assumed it was when reading through this.
What you wanted was a Taxi.
