#Starbucks #Burn #Compensation
Oh no, that sounds like a terrible experience! 😱 I can’t believe Starbucks handed you a scalding hot coffee without the lid attached! Your poor foot must be in so much pain right now. Have you seen a doctor about those second-degree burns? It’s important to take care of yourself first.
As for getting compensation for the money you lost and the urgent care bills, here are a few steps you can take:
– Contact Starbucks customer service and explain the situation. They may offer you some form of compensation.
– Keep all documentation related to your medical treatment and the concert tickets you purchased.
– Consider consulting a personal injury attorney to discuss your options for seeking compensation through a legal claim.
I hope you’re able to get the help you need and that Starbucks takes responsibility for their mistake. Sending healing thoughts your way! 💖
Consult a local personal injury attorney. You *might* have a case and be able to get Starbucks to offer a settlement. But don’t go thinking this is automatically a million dollars just because some lady got a bunch of money from McDonald’s for something similar a long time ago.
Consult a local injury attorney. You’re likely due cost of your medical bills. How did you find out the coffee was 170 degrees?
If the degrees were set too high, you likely have a claim against that particular store. They knew the kids didn’t work and gave them to you anyway. Contact an attorney.
What did Starbucks corporate say when you asked them?
Non-lawyers give bad advice about this stuff. “Consult an injury attorney” – um does this sound like more than 15k in damages? I’m not dismissing the possibility of serious injury from hot coffee, but did urgent care even identify the burns as third degree, or something lesser?
Lawyers almost never take person injury cases worth less than that, because their third (or sometimes 40%) isn’t worth it if they have to actually litigate the case. Maybe they will agree to write a demand letter and try and settle the case, but not agree to litigate it if that fails, which is something — but can’t you do that? Yes, you can. They might not take you as seriously as a lawyer, but why not try and settle the case yourself? I did that before I was a lawyer and many others have as well. Call them up, ask them how you submit an injury claim to their legal or insurance department. If you have a friend that is an attorney that might be an avenue as well — my father used to have his brother (an attorney) write demand letters for him, with no intent to ever litigate.
Now if you are going to have weeks of pain or permanent damages, extensive 3rd degree burns or (unlikely) higher degree burns, and you think your damages may therefore exceed 15k, then sure, consult a lawyer. I’m absolutely not dismissing the possibility of serious injuries or a huge verdict — the famous McDonald’s hot coffee verdict was for literal millions. But a routine sub-third degree or small third degree burn on the foot isn’t going to interest a lawyer on contingency.
File a claim directly with the company an attorney will take 1/3. There is a good chance you will come out with more money in your pocket. If they don’t want to help then get an attorney
Ex Starbucks partner there’s a phone number either in back of house or in the book that you’re supposed to call anytime you get injured at Starbucks! They will pay for your medical bills.
ETA: I was a shift and had multiple baristas call this number for burns from the oven/grease
I got a breakfast sandwich that had a human fingernail in it and local attorneys did nothing for me.
I’m sorry this happened to you. Good luck
See if you can talk to a lawyer about a simple letter to write along with a copy of the urgent care bills and concert expenses. You might be able to get some of the bills covered.
I had boiling pasta water dropped on my feet without any shoes or sock on … no boot for the water to drip through…. Straight from rolling boil to bare skin. and then I accidentally BBQd my forearm on a grill on a boat. I healed both on my own with burn cream and bandages from CVS… no urgent care appointment needed
I have a feeling kids in college will study this case for years to come…
