Hey fellow business owners and entrepreneurs! 👋
I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out my niche for a potential startup business idea. I want to have multiple businesses that can run without me being there all the time, just like someone I know locally has achieved. So, I’m curious – what niches are you all in and how did you get started?
Here are a few questions to get the conversation going:
– What inspired you to choose your specific niche?
– Did you face any challenges along the way, and how did you overcome them?
– What advice do you have for someone struggling to pinpoint their niche?
I’d love to hear your insights and experiences! Let’s help each other out and share our knowledge to benefit everyone in the community. 🌟 #Collaboration #KnowledgeSharing
As someone who’s founded and sold out of a startup in the early 2020s, focus on a single business. Put all your hard work and effort into a single idea, and you’ll be amazed at what happens. The impact you have will be greater if you narrow down what you’re working on.
Likewise, I want to start another business– probably consulting– and have struggled with whether there’s a market for it or not. It would be a niche of financial risk management for financial firms. But that’s just an idea.
For me, I have learnt a lot while building and if I will advice someone about how to start, I’ll tell them to start with SEO,
Go do your research and find keywords with difficulty less than 20 and has a monthly volume of 500+, those are goldmine keywords you should target and build startups for ,
I learnt this lesson after building my f[irst startup](https://www.pitchdeck.design) and my [second product](https://indieniche.substack.com)
I have often found out that most people find it difficult to find ideas for what they want to build or are clueless of how they will build it, they already have dev knowledge and some have design and product knowledge , for that reason I am working on a new product called domainslug to help people find goldmine keywords that they can rank for with analysis and also give them domain name they can use to work on that keyword, I don’t know if this is something anybody would be interested in , but here is an example based off one of my tweet of what someone would get and i[t will go for a cheap](https://x.com/olayanjuidris/status/1801231999404798394?s=46)
Ecom store owner here. Started with dropshipping, then niched into pet products. Good luck!
Niches I’ve been involved in:
High performance motorcycle parts (70s, 80s-family business);
The first climbing walls and holds in the US (80s, 90s);
Handbuilt acoustic guitars (late 90s);
Razor wire security fencing (only successful exit, low 7 figures, 1998-2011);
Directional drilling field management software;
Currently prototyping another climbing wall product (against my better judgement and all my experience)
Professional childproofer. Definitely niche.
Started 10 years ago when expecting our son. Realized the industry existed and nobody was doing it in my area. Was able to go full time in the business and leave my regular job after 18 months of doing both. I’m consistently booked out 2-3 weeks. People just keep having babies. 😁
I personally have a [newsletter](https://playkit.xyz) that breaks down TikTok strategies of the most viral apps and then explains how you can replicate a similar format.
The idea began because I noticed fellow founders as well as my self were absolutely terrible as marketing. I started the newsletter for myself to help study others strategies but quickly realized this was a valuable tool for others as well!
Hey there! Finding the right niche can definitely be a challenge, but it’s great that you’re putting in the time to brainstorm and plan. For me, it all started with identifying a problem I was passionate about solving. I noticed that many **non-technical founders** had brilliant ideas but struggled with vetting developers and managing them efficiently to get their MVPs built without blowing up their budget.
My advice would be to look for a problem that resonates with you and validate if there’s a real need for a solution. Once you have that, consider leveraging technology to create businesses that can operate independently, reducing your need to be constantly present.
If you’re ever interested, I know a great resource for a free consultation to validate software ideas, which can be a big help in the beginning stages. Happy to share more if you’re curious!
Good luck with your ventures!

I struggle with finding ideas 💡. I believe everyone has limited knowledge and information.
How can I improve my ability to generate ideas? I need expert opinions and advice.
I was in the same boat a few months ago. Gradually I have been able to notice things I was blind to before. For me I just get in the mindset of finding a problem or need in my community and then seeing if it’s something I can turn into a business. I think I’m very close to where I want to be to start. Definitely wanting to see if any others have had success with anything I’ve got wrote down.

Started a marketplace startup. Still at the early stage and im non-technical so im still looking for a technical founder. Goodluck!
Making anime gacha games. We started this because back in the day, a lot of live service mobile games were very simple combat and a member of our team was friends with a lot of anime artists at the time while most of our team was in college.
Like a number of posts in this, pick a narrow focus and do it really well. Five Guys Burgers comes to mind as a narrow focused entity that came into existence when McDonalds and Burger King ruled.
I have built and sold three startup companies in the last 20 years.. I think a good approach is to find someone (customer) that is willing to give you a chance. Build a product that solves a problem and not a solution looking for a problem to solve.
So much easier to deliver well for one customer and then leverage that experience to grow organically. Feedback loops are critical to responding to the needs as decisions should be powered by data and not a bunch of executives in a conference room.
I own an online school, blog media, Youtube, Udemy instructors and multiple SaaS businesses. The areas range from AI, entertainment, books, movies, and more. This is what happens when you dabble in the areas I am good at and like. Currently, most of them can be operated without much work.
If you have multiple ideas and don’t know which one to do, you should start with the one that excites you. I wish you success.
