#CollegeAlternative #LifeChoices #CareerPaths
Hey everyone! 👋 I’m really curious about the different paths people take when college isn’t part of the journey. So, for those of you who haven’t gone to college, I’d love to hear more about your experiences! What are you up to these days? 🌟
There’s absolutely no judgment here; I’m just trying to explore all my options and learning from you all. Here are a few things I’d love to know:
- What kind of work are you currently doing? 💼
- {{If you feel comfortable}} What’s your income range like? 💰
- How did you get into your current role? Any tips on getting started? 🚀
Maybe you’ve found an unexpected passion or are doing something you love. Sharing your journey could really inspire someone else. What challenges did you face along the way, and how did you overcome them? 🤔
I think it’s super important to have these conversations, especially knowing there are so many paths to success out there! Let’s keep it open and helpful. Can’t wait to hear from you! 🙌
Most my boys went to trade school and making bank being hvac/plumbers and such
Did some college, never finished a degree. Making decent 6 figures, management at a large corporation.
I technically went to college for graphic design but got kicked out. So I do not have a degree. I started working after college a music shop doing web and catalog design for 27k in 2007. Then i started working at a print shop from 2008 to 2012, ended at 38k i think. I had a bit of an existential crisis when I realized that I wasn’t going to be able to pay back my student loans ever and had a lot of problems with my family and had to move out. Then went to a publisher as a design for a temp position at 50/h from October 2012-April 2013. Was unemployed for a year and got a position in advertising for 45k in 2014. In 2018 they transferred me to another agency where I started at 56k + OT. In 2023 I left as a supervisor making 68k with no OT. As of the last year, I took a senior (downward) position at a new company for 105k. I am currently making 109k this year.
Not exactly what you asked: Usually people asking this question are thinking of a bachelor’s degree +. I have an associates degree. Working industrial maintenance, in my area, is about 80k/yr + OT.
Other ppl have gotten into this type of work without a degree though.
I hope more people answer this. I’d be really curious
I’m a code enforcement officer. I make mid 50s.
Keep in mind, cost of living is HUGE and important context. I’m not in a very high CoL area (Pittsburgh suburbs), so I’m happy with what I make.
