Hey everyone! 👋
I’ve been working in Talent Acquisition for about 8 years now—2 years in an agency and the last 6 have been in-house at SaaS companies. I’ve seen everything from large enterprise environments to small startups. 😊
However, I’m currently facing some uncertainty at my job. Rumors of layoffs are swirling, and with the end of the year approaching (or possibly even Q1), I’m almost certain I might be impacted. 💼
Right now, I’m making a base salary of over $160,000, and I’m seeking advice from fellow TA professionals about your go-to resources for finding new opportunities in our field.
Here’s what I’ve experienced so far:
- **BuiltIn**: This platform has yielded the **highest quality job leads** for me, especially in the tech realm. 🌟
- **LinkedIn**: Unfortunately, it’s been pretty hit or miss. A lot of the postings seem low quality and just piles of junk. 😕
- **Indeed**: It’s kind of a mixed bag—I’ve found some decent roles, but there’s just so much to sift through. 🎣
These discrepancies can really affect our job search experience. The overwhelming amount of low-quality listings can lead to frustration and wasted time, while finding the right fit can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. 🧭
So I’m curious: what online resources or strategies have worked best for you when looking for TA positions? Have you stumbled upon any hidden gems that helped you streamline your search?
Let’s share our experiences and tips to navigate this often tricky job market! Your insights could be invaluable to someone else who’s in a similar situation. 😊
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! 💬
Start applying now. Keep networking, network more, continue to build those relationships
I still know plenty of highly skilled, tenured TAs like yourself who have been out of work for over 12 months
Be prepared for your salary to take a hit. Comp has dropped over the last 3 years in many areas. Get your finances sorted now and plan ahead for the potential of being unemployed longer than you expect.
Therapy, if you’re open to it find yourself a good therapist, layoffs can impact your mental health more than you anticipate sometimes
I think this is going to be the situation for a lot of non-FAANG tech recruiting orgs now that have until now dodged the headsman’s axe. These organizations are deciding to lower bands for next year and they’re seeing “how overpaid their staff is.”
My recommendation to you is to start getting yourself mentally prepared, consume all those health benefits and therapy sessions you may/may not have been ignoring. And other than that – just start networking now. This is the only reliable way that I’m seeing anyone get jobs in my network.
Talking to people I’ve worked with in past roles. In twelve years I’ve only had 2 jobs that I actually applied to and didn’t know someone.
