Polytopia
Xcom 2 is running great on my phone!
Cookie clicker (many imitations, the real one has no micro transactions) there more to it than what you might initially think.
Vampire Survivors, the time will melt away.
Plague Inc. Go for Air 2 for flavor.
I think you could totally beat oxenfree and it would also set the mood for your trip lol.
I’m not sure if you absolutely need a Netflix sub or if it can be purchased individually.
Settlers of Catan – the app has all the variations plus versions of each that would be very difficult to play without a ton of extra tiles. I’ve put well over 100 hours into the game just playing with the AI.
Fallout Shelter
Anything Kairosoft if you want little management sims
Bloons TD6
Mini Motorways
Off the top of my head, I’ve spent more hours than I anticipated on these.
Solitaire. Vegas rules. Try to land with a positive balance.
The first Stranger Things game is quite good. Free and no ads.
Any classic JRPG from Square Enix
I lost an absurd amount of time to “Dungeon Village”.
PPSSPP emulator and you have so many choices
Arcane of the attorney is really good if you like ace attorney games
Stardew Valley
Skillful Pixel Dungeon (or any Pixel Dungeon variants) : it’s free, really small size, addictive.
Final Fantasy 6; it is in my millennial gamer opinion the best Final Fantasy Game.
Second option is Chrono Trigger.
Fallout Shelter
My go to for offline plane games are old Pokemon games which I play via emulator on my phone
Baba is you if you want puzzles, pirates outlaws if you want deck building
Builderment
Minesweeper!
Slay the spire
Defense Zone 3 HD is an awesome free tower defense game, despite the name
Get an emulator and a bunch retro games
If you’re on iPhone, there’s a retro game emulator called Delta that’s free. You can play old school console and handheld games, just have to source your own ROMs.
Tetris, they have levels now. The ads can get a little annoying but the game passes time well
I was obsessed with Dead Cells mobile when I went my last flight even though I had 7+ other games installed.
Castlevania symphony of the night
The iPad version of FTL is 10/10. One of the best games of all time.
Brotato Premium
anything by Kairosoft… just don’t blame me when you lose days playing the game
Dungeon of Dreadrock
Bouncy Ball
Slay the Spire and Slice and Dice. Top 2 for sure
Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions
Into the Breach: tactical, turn based mechas vs kaijus, free if you have a Netflix subscription.
It’s the closest thing (with Slay the Spire) to a perfect game.
I don’t have a suggestion, I’m just saving this beautiful list of non-trash phone games for posterity.
Knights of the Old Republic
You like RPG’s, the mobile port is very good, and you’ll absolutely get more than 20 hours of it.
