“Dear third-party recruiters, what happens if a candidate you placed quits within 6 months? As a candidate considering leaving my current position due to dissatisfaction, I wonder about the implications from your perspective. #recruitment #candidateexperience #jobsearchtips”
### Experience with Your Recruiter
– **Engaging with an understanding recruiter**
– **Mismatch with the placed company**
– **Considering new opportunities**
### Implications for Third-Party Recruiters
– **Contract fulfillment and payment received**
– **Potential impact on future collaborations**
– **Handling candidate turnover gracefully**
Do what you gotta do man.Â
Typically, if a placed candidate quits within X amount of time, then the recruiter will need to offer a replacement at no fee. This can vary from agency to agency.
In most cases the recruiter will have to fill the role again for free. I have had situations where the client just asked for a full or partial refund instead.
And it isn’t always 6 months. While that is standard, some contracts offer guarantees that are shorter or longer.
If you have been there for at least 90 days, recruiter has already been paid. Most guarantees are 90 days.
Depends on the language in the fee agreement between the recruiter and the client. They can get a refund or credit. I’ve negotiated agreements between 30 days and 90 days. 6 months seems absurd, but maybe it’s not in some industries idk.
My guarantees are between 60 and 90 days, usually pro-rated into 2 or 3 payments. I wouldn’t ever work on a 6 month guarantee, because at 6 months it’s the companies fault it didn’t work out, not the candidate I found.
Honestly, as a recruiter, I appreciate you asking this question! You should in NO WAY consider the recruiter in making the right professional decision for yourself (if that’s what you are even asking…) Good luck! It will work out.
I loved my recruiter, but absolutely hated the company. I quit on day 91 to make sure he got paid and I got the fuck out.
