Hey everyone! 🌟 So, I recently started a part time job and found out that I’m not eligible for PTO since I’m part time, which I get… but then I started wondering about what happens if I have to call off sick. 🤔
Here’s my question: If I call off sick for a day, will that day’s wage be deducted from my pay, since I’m on salary? Wouldn’t hourly pay make more sense for part time employees without PTO? 🤯
Does anyone have any insights or suggestions on how this situation could be handled more effectively? Maybe implementing a system where part time employees can still earn PTO based on hours worked? Let me know your thoughts! 💭

Are you exempt or non exempt? They can call it “salary” in that they are going to pay you the same each week, but still pay you by the hours worked. I would assume you are non exempt and that if you miss a day, you’d be docked pay.
You should ask your HR in a follow up email to their response regarding PTO
Will you be able to do your 25 hours if you call off sick?
