Hey there fellow entrepreneurs! Let’s talk about that lightbulb moment 💡 Where did you get the idea for your business? I’m on a quest to find my own business venture that doesn’t tie me down to selling my time.
After years in the corporate world, I’m ready to shake things up but feeling a bit clueless on where to start. I’ve always had a love for coffee and roasting but the numbers aren’t adding up. Not keen on drop-shipping random stuff either.
So spill the beans! Share your story on how you stumbled upon your business idea. Maybe your journey will inspire me to take the leap into my own venture. Let’s discuss and brainstorm together! 💬💭 #BusinessIdeas #PassionProject #NewBeginnings
sounds good- with 12 Years of Experience you must be good in what youre doing. Could you explain what exactly your Job was and what Service your offering in your business? Also im curious about in which continent your located – I ve noticed that there is a huge difference in doing business the American way vs. the European vs. the Asian way.
Thanks
I have a similar path like you.
I was working at an agency when I started my agency.
But to be honest, if you hire, and price well enough, it really is less about selling your time. Even with an E-commerce startup there are things you have to do that aren’t scalable until you hit scale.
With that said, you should try to create a burner account on Tiktok and tailor your feed to finding trending products.
This can help you with with some product ideas.
Since you’re passionate about coffee I would do more research to uncover ways to start a business that is not strictly selling coffee straight up, you’ll be surprised at the creative ways you could potentially make money in the sector if you stick within it long enough
My background is similar to yours. I worked in a field for several years then took the leap and went self-employed in that field. And I too didn’t want to just sell my time. The business evolved and grew over time and became a very successful national company that I enjoyed working in.
So where did I get the idea(s) for my business?
My clients.
As I listened to them describe their dreams and difficulties, I discovered there was tons of opportunity to innovate and be creative.
So to kill two birds with one stone – coming up with viable business ideas(s) *and* getting away from selling my time – I came up with ideas to package my services.
I took the client feedback (their ideas) and created monthly services packages (my idea).
That became the winning combination – the intersection of where their deep hunger and my deep gladness met.
I always just had a knack for it, I knew I would have my own software company 🙂 it was just a matter of when, and what I’d do with it.
Since then we’ve made [a project management tool](https://goleko.com/) (my most successful yet) [a website creation service](https://baunit.com/), a screen recording tool, and many many more.
Believe in yourself! You got this!

I am exactly in this process currently.
I do a mix:
-Creative brainstorming (alone and with business partners)
-Researching successful concepts
After having evaluated >200 ideas I must say that I would not recommend to focus a lot on researching successful businesses, because most people go with this route so there is always someone who tried the next franchise for X or Netflix for Y idea.
Go around with a mindset of identifying problems and think about potential solutions.
I was a consultant for SMB SaaS companies, charging about $10k-20k per month.
One of my customers said “when I was getting started I wish someone just told me what to do and held my hand while I did it myself, I would have grown so much faster and saved a ton”.
So now I do that.
Way less stress than doing it for people and the margins are much higher.
Mostly when I shit ..
I was speaking with a customer and he said the magic words : “we have a real problem with…..”
That’s all you need. You don’t want to look for ideas. Just listen out for the magic words.
I hated my hours in private equity and figured I’d just do it myself.
I was lucky and bootstrapped an international CPG company and recently acquired my first European company 🙂 as an American. Profit issuance is a pain in the ass and the consolidated financials, but
Im glad to be out of PE firms.
Read the book “the millionaire fastlane”. I know that title makes it sound like some get rich bullshit but the book is the real deal.
I was laid off 4 times since 2020, I got sick of never knowing if I was going to get laid off again and decided to start a job board that offers potential payment for company reviews.
