#TeacherAppreciationWeekGiftIdeas: What’s the best gift for teachers? 🎁💸
Hey everyone! So, my partner is a teacher and let me tell you, Teacher Appreciation Week always brings in a flood of gifts. Don’t get me wrong, it’s super sweet and greatly appreciated. But here’s the thing – after years of receiving countless mugs and mountains of chocolates, we’ve come to a realization: cash is truly the best gift.
I know, I know, it may seem impersonal or even rude to give cash as a gift. But let me explain why it’s actually a game-changer. Picture this: a $200 gift certificate to a luxury resort sounds amazing, right? Wrong. Teachers have financial limitations too and that gift ends up being more of a burden than a treat.
On the other hand, cash gives teachers the freedom to choose how they want to treat themselves. Whether it’s a relaxing trip to the salon, takeout on a busy night, or even just paying off a bill to alleviate some financial stress – cash is a versatile and thoughtful gift.
So, instead of stressing over what to get your child’s teacher this Teacher Appreciation Week, consider the gift of cash. Trust me, any amount (or a heartfelt card or note) will be appreciated. Plus, it shows that you truly understand and appreciate the hard work teachers put in every day.
What do you think? Do you agree that cash is the best Teacher Appreciation Week gift? 🤔💰 Let’s discuss! #TeacherAppreciation #CashIsKing #GiftIdeas
Ummm… can teachers actually (legally) accept cash gifts?
I mean, at least for doctors/health staff we’re technically not allowed to accept gifts, but little tokens (chocolates, flowers) are acceptable and usually left in the office for the staff to share. But anyone wanting to gift us cash is a BIG fat no-no and IDK anyone who’d risk it… let alone encourage it as you’re doing.
I’d assume teachers to be the same. While the apple (or other token) is cute, big gifts and even petty cash could be viewed as bribes. Is that kid getting an A, or “getting an A”? Is this just appreciation for the same care every kid gets, or a “thanks for letting *my kid* retake the test”? It takes one parent noticing/commenting/misunderstanding for a person’s career to get questioned or even ruined. Hell, even gift certs like the cabin you mentioned can be hella sus and I’d never accept something like that.
**EDIT:** also… dude, you know you can pass the chocolates/cookies to friends and family, leave them in the lounge, donate them to soup kitchens, or even use some as rewards for kids during quizzes (had a teacher do this, we studied SO hard for a candy). The options aren’t eat or throw out.
The mugs can be given out to support staff (that don’t get gifted despite also doing a LOT for kids), donated to soup kitchens/homeless shelters/as part of help packets for homeless (candy in a mug would likely make their day!).
Throwing out either is such a waste.
My mom is a teacher, and the amount of mugs she has gotten over the years is insane. She keeps her favorite looking ones, and a lot have made their way to my house.
She always said that cash and gift cards to Walmart, Target, etc. were her favorite because then she could go get whatever there. School supplies, her favorite chocolate, a new shirt.
Too bad you’re getting a scented candle
Tipping teachers is one of the most American things I’ve heard. Second only to the daily school shootings.
