How Long Does a Brazilian/Bikini Wax Take?
A typical Brazilian or bikini wax can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes, depending on your hair type and the experience of the esthetician. Some waxing salons offer express services that can be done in as little as 10 minutes, while others may take longer for a more thorough job.
Etiquette Tips for a Brazilian/Bikini Wax
When getting a Brazilian or bikini wax, it’s important to follow some etiquette rules to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience:
1. Arrive Clean
Make sure to shower before your appointment to keep the area clean and free of any potential infections.
2. Communicate Clearly
Let your esthetician know your preferences and any concerns you may have before starting the waxing process.
3. Relax and Breathe
Try to relax and take deep breaths during the waxing to make the process more manageable.
4. Tip Appropriately
Don’t forget to tip your esthetician for their hard work and professionalism.
Next time you’re thinking about getting a Brazilian or bikini wax, keep these tips in mind for a pleasant and smooth experience!
Don’t fart
Probably shower beforehand
Here in Brazil usually takes about 30 minutes depending on the part of the body, and it’s common sense to shower before the session
Time length depends on the person who is doing the waxing and the person getting waxed. If your waxer is very experienced and the person getting waxed takes it like a champ and doesn’t need any breaks it can take 20-45 minutes.
Make sure you shower beforehand but don’t apply any lotions or creams to the area, exfoliate a few days prior, you want the hair to be long enough they can easily wax it (contact your waxer to see what length they recommend), and be honest if it’s hurting too much and you need a sec. I also recommend wearing comfortable pants & undies so they’re easy to remove and don’t bother you afterward.
make sure your butthole is clean 🙏🏻 it’s an intimate experience for the waxer and the client and it can get real stinky if proper hygiene steps haven’t been taken
I’ve never really thought of that but I know I never spend long time there. For the etiquette please be clean, I’ve seen a lot of estheticians talk about horrible customers who were very dirty.
It usually takes about 15 minutes at the places I go to. I used to be very embarrassed and apologetic but over time I realized that they are professionals who do this all the time and to not worry so much about it. If they’re good they’ll make conversation with you which helps keep your mind off of the pain. As far as etiquette: leave a tip (this may only apply to the US). Take off only the clothes you need to.
Eye contact, never break it
A Brazilian wax is different from a bikini wax; a Brazilian takes about 15 minutes with a good waxer (longer if you need breaks, but they honestly aren’t that bad so getting it done quick is better), a bikini probably closer to 5 or maybe 10.
For etiquette, you can ask the specific salon you’re going to if they have any tips you should know beforehand. In general, try to book it at a time where you’re able to shower before/not right after a long day at work. They’ll likely leave you in the room to take your bottoms off and lay down and there’ll be wipes you can use – use one. During the appointment it’s totally okay to be nervous or shy but also remember that this is their job and it’s something they’re used to and signed up for, try to be as calm and cooperative as possible so that they can do their job and it doesn’t skew their schedule for the rest of the day!
Last thing is to tip (at least if you’re in North America, this is definitely a service where you tip the provider).
No pre-cycle discharge, no menstrual cycle, no post cycle discharge AND when you are alone changing before the technician comes in – freshen up with some wet wipes and dry the area with the paper towels in the room.
I think you should ask the person that is going to do the job for you. Because I’m sure they will definitely have a ready made list of NO-NOs for you.
Stay clean! Typically 15-20 minutes for me.
What everyone else said is right, shower before and exfoliate a couple days before, also they usually have wipes and other hygiene products in the bathroom so you can get there early and clean yourself before and after the appointment just in case. A good wax specialist will talk you through the appointment whether it’s your first time or not and ask abt your comfort, preferences, etc. You should also ask if you can lay certain ways if you feel that’s the best way to remove your hair. I also recommend taking an ibuprofen or something similar about 30 minutes before because it can ease the pain, but honestly it really is only for a few seconds, not a lasting thing at all. Also if your specialist is particularly good/caring they’ll extract any ingrowns you get! Also you can get waxed on your period, you just need to let your specialist know before hand and be wearing a fresh tampon when it happens, but it will hurt a bit more than normal because you’re already so sensitive down there
Brazilian wax is max 15 min where I go.
Clean all your bits. My friend waxes me and we always laugh and she once waxed my cheeks together to be silly, then slapped my ass. We never have proper etiquette!!
i always shower before going. i’m usually in & out within 20 minutes.
If it takes longer than 15 minutes find somewhere new to go.
My girlfriend is in there for literally 10mins, tops.
From her: exfoliating beforehand will help with any kind of acne, follow up 24hrs after waxing with an ingrown hair treatment and “bush balm” if you leave a landing strip. Avoid sweaty activities for at least 24hrs after waxing. She also says “to let your girl breathe” to help prevent sweating and any irritation.
No matter how good it feels, don’t moan and whisper “don’t stop”
I got them done for a few years and it was around 20-30 minutes.
Then I learned to do it myself to save loads of money and it always takes me 45 minutes . Been doing my own for ten years now
Shower and wash your crannies
You can dramatically speed up the process if you have an extremely high pain tolerance.
First rule of etiquette is to make sure you have permission before putting wax on someone’s lady bits. Surprise waxing is NOT cool.
About 30 minutes. Shower before your appointment. Use wet wipes before the technician enters the room (during the changing process).
Can’t your skin rip off by accident?
If you’re new or nervous or uncomfortable, just say so. Be assured you are not the first new person in there. They have a system; just ask.
My regular waxer takes 10 minutes, maybe 15 if it’s super humid or warm and the wax is uncooperative.
BE CLEAN. Cannot emphasize this enough.
I prefer not to eat or drink anything an hour or two beforehand. They will let you use the restroom right before the appointment, but even so, better if the tanks are relatively empty.
Don’t go somewhere sketchy. Hygiene is an issue; also real professionals will have a better system and equipment.
You can start with other waxes, such as arms, legs or underarms, to get an idea of what to expect.
I could not imagine anything worse then getting my pubic hair pulled out from the roots. with wax. Horrific.
20 min max it’s a small area and pretty painless
Bikini wax is like 10 minutes max. Shower first
