😔 Hey there! It’s totally normal to feel a bit lost in your journey as a CS major. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Here are some tips and guidance to help you find your way back to your passion for computer science.
## Understanding your Loss of Interest
### Embrace Your Feelings
It’s okay to feel demotivated and unsure about your interest in computer science. Take a moment to acknowledge your feelings and understand why you’ve lost interest. This self-reflection can help you figure out the underlying reasons for your lack of enthusiasm.
### Identify Your Passion
Think back to when you first fell in love with CS. What aspect of it excited you the most? Was it the problem-solving nature of coding in Python? Or the data manipulation in SQL? Identifying your passion can help you rediscover the joy of computer science.
## Rediscovering Your Passion
### Focus on Your Strengths
If Python and SQL spark your interest, why not build on those skills? Dive deeper into these languages and explore more advanced concepts and applications. By honing your strengths, you can reignite the spark for CS.
### Explore Real-Life Applications
Take a look at how Python and SQL are used in real-life applications and companies. Understanding the practical use of these languages can help you see the relevance and impact of your skills. For example, Python is widely used in data analysis, web development, and artificial intelligence, while SQL is crucial for managing databases in various industries.
## Developing New Skills
### Relevant Skills for the Future
While Python and SQL are valuable, it’s important to stay adaptable and keep up with the ever-evolving tech landscape. Consider learning the following skills to stay relevant in the CS field:

Don’t worry about disappointing your parents; they want to see you happy and thriving. By taking proactive steps to reignite your interest in computer science and acquiring new skills, you’ll set yourself on a path towards a bright and promising future in the field.
So, take a deep breath, trust in your abilities, and know that you have a world of opportunities waiting for you in the exciting realm of computer science. Let’s embark on this journey together!
You can do anything you want with this degree. The career you settle into will be nothing like your current degree program.
For instance, my uncle is a very successful attorney. Before law school he received a degree in CS. This is a solid field of study, it will bring success and opportunity.
With exposure to CS if you’re looking at tech jobs I’d suggest looking up these titles online. You’d get a good idea
1) Since you like python and SQL look at data science / data analyst / data engineering jobs
2) Learn about product management – an alternate place for tech people who doesn’t dabble in tech much. You’d probably start off as an analyst
3) Technical Project Manager – Project management role, but focussed on technica aspects. Present in large companies who have many clients and TPMs usually act as a liaison between tech and business. Kind of like product management but a little more technical
Good luck!
All of y’all who just replied just got me motivated. :). Thanks a ton!
