Hey everyone! š So, I’m in a bit of a unique situation. I actually enjoy my high-paying job, but I also have a burning desire to start my own business on the side. It’s not that I want to escape from my job, but I just have this entrepreneurial itch that I need to scratch.
I know a lot of people quit their jobs to focus on their business full-time once it starts making more money than their job. But for those of you who didn’t quit your job to start a business, how did you manage juggling both responsibilities? I’d love to hear your strategies and tips!
Some possible solutions that come to mind:
– Time management: Creating a schedule and sticking to it
– Outsourcing tasks: Delegating some responsibilities to others
– Setting priorities: Knowing when to focus on your job and when to focus on your business
Looking forward to hearing your insights! š„ #SideHustle #SuccessTips
Work 9-5. Business 6-7.
Iāve always said you can make a lot of money between 5-9 after your 9-5. When I was 24 I was working 7 days a week most weeks, easily 12 hours per day. Itās just a hustle and a grind and thatās kind of all there is to it.
For two years, I worked 12 hours a day in banking and then 4-hours on the biz. Also, a few at the weekend. Went out a lot still, took holidays, chilled with friends and family. All I really did was ditch social media and streaming movies, no big deal!
I was able to negotiate a contract / remote work agreement with my boss, stepping down as a W2. I still came in the office when she needed me in the busy season, but otherwise I was able to work from home and go out on the road when needed independently to do my job.
This afforded me the flexibility needed to start my company on the side.
Wake up early work on my thing from 5-7 then my full time job from 8-5:30 then work again from 7:30 to 9:30 1 hour chill before bed. I donāt do this on Fridays I only work my job on Fridays then on Saturday I do 12-8 and Sunday 9-2 then repeat
Either do two to five hours in the morning before your Job or two to five hours after your Job the secret is to put on the hours that’s the One truly real secret
I got laid off and was living off unemployment benefits
I was 26 when I started mine. It was cutting ties from my job and then leap of faith. I couldn’t get much momentum while working an 8 to 5, so I got as much setup about the company as possible and then I made the leap. Some people mix both roles, but it wasn’t working for me. You’re doing it at the right age though. Good luck.
The morning is the most productive time. Leave this for the difficult tasks.
Leave other, repeated tasks, for after-work time.
Weekends are also great, get up early and spend your morning working.
Try to automate, to save time.
Started by business in 2016 while I still had a job. I still have a job, but I negotiated it to be part-time – this has given me stable income while I manage the highs and lows of the business.
I’m kind of in this situation too. I have a well paying job that I really don’t dislike, however I would much rather work for myself (I’ve always been that way).
Recently though, work has been incredibly overwhelming as I feel like I’m juggling so many task which I wasn’t originally hired to do. The company I work for has gone through some changes in the past few months. Combine that with the business that I’m building and I’m incredibly stressed and burned out. Honestly, I’m not sure how to describe what I’m feeling.
I need a break so that I can reset/destress but I can’t seem to take but a few days off at a time. Advice?
Do you know what kind of business you’d want to get into instead? There’s different paths for different destinations š
Most I quit, but had the capital set. While doing hospice care and during pandemic illness I had a lot of free time, much of it was paid through unemployment and ventures start often as hobbies not commerce.
I just get aggressive with a lot of stuff and eventually there is enough momentum to jump. Most recently I was increasing and diversifying my income stream to ditch Medicaid.
Tragedy struck on this most recent venture and what Iām doing now is an armed response. Just ordered the promos for the first secret rap battle so Iām locked in, like it or not, do or die.
Shorter answer, I was on standby a lot so I used that time to develop myself and my business V interests.
