π If Apple wants me to wear my watch to track my sleep, so when exactly am I meant to charge the damn thing?
Apple Watch users around the world have been buzzing about the latest sleep tracking feature that has been introduced by Apple. However, with this new feature comes a major dilemma – when exactly are we supposed to charge our Apple Watches if we’re wearing them at night to track our sleep? Don’t fret, because in this article, we’ll be diving into various tips and tricks to help you navigate this charging dilemma and make the most out of your Apple Watch’s sleep tracking capabilities.
## Understanding the Sleep Tracking Feature
Before we delve into strategies for charging your Apple Watch while still using the sleep tracking feature, it’s important to understand how the sleep tracking feature functions. The sleep tracking feature monitors your movements and heart rate during your sleeping hours to provide you with insights into your sleep patterns and overall sleep quality.
### Setting Up Sleep Tracking
– Make sure to update your Apple Watch to the latest software version
– Open the Health app on your iPhone
– Tap on Browse > Sleep > Get Started and follow the on-screen instructions to set up sleep tracking
Now that we have an understanding of how the sleep tracking feature works, let’s tackle the charging dilemma.
## Charging Strategies for Apple Watch Sleep Tracking
Here are some clever strategies to help you keep your Apple Watch charged while still enjoying the benefits of sleep tracking:
### Charge During Evening Activities
If you find that your Apple Watch’s battery life is sufficient to last throughout the day and into the evening, consider charging it while you partake in evening activities such as watching TV, reading, or winding down before bed. This way, you can ensure that your Apple Watch is fully charged before you hit the hay.
### Quick Charge Before Sleep
If you’re someone who tends to forget to charge their devices overnight, consider incorporating a quick charging session into your bedtime routine. Set a reminder to charge your Apple Watch for a short period before you go to bed to top up its battery and ensure it can last through the night while tracking your sleep.
### Power Nap Charging
It’s no secret that power naps can be rejuvenating, but did you know they can also be an opportune moment to charge your Apple Watch? If you have the luxury of taking a power nap during the day, use this time to place your Apple Watch on the charger and give it a quick boost in battery life.
### Utilize Power Reserve Mode
When all else fails and you find yourself with a critically low battery on your Apple Watch, consider utilizing the Power Reserve mode. This mode disables all non-essential features on your Apple Watch, allowing it to conserve energy and remain in a low-power state while still displaying the time. This way, you can still track your sleep without draining your battery completely.
## Conclusion
The introduction of the sleep tracking feature on the Apple Watch has undoubtedly improved the overall user experience for many individuals. However, the charging dilemma that accompanies wearing the Apple Watch at night is a valid concern. By employing the aforementioned strategies, you can effectively manage the charging of your Apple Watch while still taking full advantage of its sleep tracking capabilities. With a bit of planning and creativity, you’ll be able to effortlessly integrate sleep tracking into your routine without sacrificing the functionality of your Apple Watch.
In the morning when you wake up, in the evening when you donβt otherwise need it. During the day while at a desk and otherwise connected?
You could choose not to wear it when you sleep. I have a tracker (not Apple Watch) and I used to wear it to sleep, and it was such a relief when I stopped. I used to get stressed out about the sleep stages and get stuck on how many actual hours of sleep I got. So it wasnβt really helpful. Plus itβs good break for your skin to have it off for hours.
You donβt need to wear it 24/7 lol. Give it 45 mins to charge when you get to or home from work
When you are awake.
I have an Ultra I wear at the gym and work, and use my older Series 7 for sleep tracking
During the evening. I used to have an alarm at 7 and another at 8. If you seriously can’t live without your watch for an hour, buy a used first-gen SE and wear that at night.
When you’re in the shower or toilet.
Anyone wearing their watch to the toilet is just nasty
Buy a Garmin. Just checked and I have 11 days left π
I liked my Apple Watch but if you do any type of long activity itβs not worth it.
I used to charge mine whilst I was in the shower / getting ready for bed in the eve.
Before you go to bed? After you wake up? Iβm sure thereβs a couple hours each day when youβre sitting on your butt not doing anything.
Do you wear it in the shower? If not, that’s the obvious answer
I charge mine after I get up in the morning, while I brush my teeth and take a shower. I definitely donβt see any reason to have it on while showering.
Honestly, I donβt care much for the sleep tracking stuff, but I like waking up with a gentle vibration in my arm rather than the usual audio alarm.
From Appleβs point of view, you buy two iWatches. One for the day and one for the night.
When you take showers.
I recently got a Series 9 45mm no cellular. Turning off the Always On display and using it as normal leaves me with about 60% battery left over a 23:30-long period. I put it on when I leave for work, and I take it off and charge it while I get ready in the morning.
I charge my Samsung watch while I am relaxing on the couch in the evening. It takes about 45 minutes, and it’s really not a big deal at all since I’m pretty immobile
When you have a shower
My mom is 90 and she has two. One is charging while sheβs wearing the other. (We have two because one was my fatherβs, who died a couple years ago.)
I charge mine as soon as I wake up. By the time I leave for the day itβs charged.
Or i donβt wear it while I sleep. The sleep data isnβt that important.
Charging an Apple watch takes roughly an hour. Charge it during your morning routine; taking a shower; sitting around at home in the evenings. Itβs not a part of your person.
Do apple watches need charged every day? I imagine you could get a few dozen minutes each day to top off the charge if you really want
I wear it to sleep and then plug it in as soon as my alarm goes off to wake me up. By the time Iβm done with my morning routine, itβs fully charged
I charge my watch while showering and getting ready, it doesnt need an entire night times worth of charge
Challenge is real. I solved it by putting charding station in the bathroom. Time I spend in the morning in the bathroom is enough to charge it for a day.
Times when you don’t need it. Get an extra charger or 2. If you have a desk job charge while you are just sitting there on a computer, or in the evening when you are just relaxing and could look at a clock or your phone.
I charge mine before bed. It takes like half an hour tops and Iβm usually just sitting doing essentially nothing during that time anyways. π€·π»ββοΈ
I charge mine while sleeping. I got by just fine without tracking my sleep before.
sleeping with it on wonβt ever be comfortable to me. i just charge it when i sleep. so what if i miss the analytics
It charges itself from your body. Ever felt without energy lately?
You set up a bedtime in Sleep Focus and enable Charging Reminders. It will send you a notification to put the watch on the charger a certain amount of time before your bedtime depending on how much charge is left on your watch.
While youβre in the shower. Or while youβre doing something sedentary like sitting on the couch.
Apple doesnβt need to track your sleep.
I don’t own one, but I’d guess during your morning routine. Wake up and plug it in, then do your routine, breakfast, etc, and finally slap it back on when you are ready to head out. If you aren’t leaving the house but wanna wear it then after coffee sounds good.
I usually charge mine, when I am drinking coffee checking my iPad in the morning, going on a 20-30min drive, or at my desk for those conf call sessions.
I know some people will top it off when they are at their desk/watching TV, or some other activity, where they donβt need it. I havenβt tried any of that stuff since I leave mine on a charging stand overnight, but it might be worth a shot.
You guys can sleep with a watch on??
Buy two, you prole!
Apple doesnβt care what you do
While showering is when I typically do
I charge it every day when I get dressed and shower, which is usually enough to get by. Maybe twice a week I’ll toss it on the charger for an hour in the evening. But I sleep with it every night. The tapping on the wrist as my alarm is something I very much appreciate.
I never wear my watch at night. Literally pointless.
If your watch tells you youβve had bad sleep youβll believe it, regardless of how you feel, why would you start the day like that?
Thats the genius part. You have to get two! π€
I don’t understand why there isn’t a “selfwinding (charging in this case) watch? Why can your movements wind an older mechanical watch but can’t be similarly used to charge a smart watch?
While you shower and brush your teeth.
I usually charge mine when Iβm having a shower.
They want you to plug your Apple watch into their new iPhone 15s and reverse charge it through a new (almost decade old technology) USB-C cable, preferably one from them. Or you can get two Apple watches and use one while you charge the other.
Psst… You don’t have to do what Apple wants. And you certainly don’t have to do *everything* the watch can simply because it can. Maybe just don’t track your sleep. Or don’t track your steps for an hour each day. None of those things are meant to be perpetual behaviors anyway.
When you shower.
When youβre in the shower maybe?
When in the shower. Fitbit lasts 4 days, and charges in about an hour
Or during the 6hours sitting on the couch π€£
