Β #HelpMeDecide: Apple Store or Costco?
Hey everyone! ππ
I need your help in making a big decision! I’ve been laid off from my corporate job and now have offers from the Apple Store and Costco. Both positions offer the same pay, but I’m torn on where to go next. Can you share any insights or experiences you have working at either place?
Here are some things I’m considering:
– Work environment π’
– Team culture π€
– Growth opportunities π±
Any advice or thoughts you can provide would be incredibly helpful. Thank you all in advance for your guidance! π
In my opinion, based on my research and experience, I think the Apple Store might offer more potential for growth and a unique work environment compared to Costco. However, Costco is known for its great benefits and stability. Think about what matters most to you and what aligns with your long-term career goals. Good luck!
I know some people who worked at the Apple Store and aside from people obviously trying to scam you for free shit they said it was a pretty good job
Had a friend who really liked working for Costco. She even transferred to another state for them!
there is probably more upward mobility at Costco. Employees there seem happy. Both solid companies.
I work at Apple corporate; there are lots of opportunities for retail folks to move up to a position here, but if youβre not really interested in the corporate world, I donβt know if itβs any better than Costco. We have hired a lot from Apple retail and I think theyβve generally enjoyed their jobs, for what itβs worth.
I have a friend in his thirties who started working part-time for costco in high school and just never left. He’s now a full-time stocker and makes close to 30$ an hour with benefits and like 5 vacation weeks a year. Took some time to get there, though.
There’s more to a decision than $$. What are the benefits packages? What’s your commute? Etc.
Apple – it was the best retail experience Iβve ever had. I worked it in addition to my full-time advertising job. The pay was good but the job itself was so much fun. You can’t beat helping people who are so excited to make a purchase. At Costco, I imagine you’ll be checking people out or stocking and honestly those auck after awhile.
Damn, I’ve worked for both. Apple if you’re willing to pretend to drink the Kool-Aid.
Costco if you are seeking long-term and want consistent raises. Costco values discipline, time card punches are legit enforced, they have a written payscale increase per hour worked.
Apple is all about charm. Within the retail store, yeah that’s one thing. But thinking big for apple, you’ll have a full-fledged career with them if you can have that smile-always-on demeanor and can get people excited and motivated. Basically if you can be a motivational speaker, you can take over a market manager position at Apple when the time comes. [edit – working at Apple retail felt like a popularity contest in terms of advancement]
I think both have good stock option stuffs, although in a good economy.
Costco has better health insurance benefits IMO [edit – I asked if I get free Costco membership for working there and was told “if you believe in the company, get it yourself” so that was a hard no]
Apple for sure if you were more up to date kookaid guy, moving up chances are more potential than costco, costco is just retail but way old school, they still use AS400 on their system
Now she goes to Costco
Costco better benefits over time and would think better raises too.
I think youβre asking the wrong question. What do you really want to do when you grow up? Apple or Costco will pay you to figure that out while you work for them but if itβs really six/half dozen the other, ask yourself where you want to be in 5 years and back engineer that through the two experiences you have before you.
