It was my uncle in 1977. Carried 4 turkeys from the car to counter. Some still speak of his legend
It’s probably a single mom.
Anyone else getting very bored of the “someone has the world record in [mundane thing] and doesn’t know it” posts?
Huh. I’ve done like 8 bags maybe 10 but dude said his uncle carried 4 turkeys so he’s in the lead.
They don’t know they hold it. But they highly suspect it.
I would love to see that one event in the strongman competitions to be swapped out with grocery bags.
Oh, I’m well aware that I have it.
Probably a lot of people tied for first.
He knows. He’s just not a braggart.
Wouldn’t be surprised if it crossed their mind as they were doing it. It would probably take an insane amount of groceries to hold the world record.

Yes. Instead of a bag, they used a different device: A shopping cart.
As a student I just pushed the shopping cart a mile home. Does that count?
That would be an unrecorded record. So… not.
Surely when people picture this it’s regarding carrying the most groceries from their vehicle to home. Not from shop to vehicle.
As someone who is not a fan of plastic bags and also lacks the foresight to bring my own half the time, I’m confident that I’m in the running.
With plastic Safeway bags, my record is 18. Had them hanging from the inside of elbows, both massive hands holding a bunch of them, one in my mouth.
It’s me, my arms go numb from the heft! I hate making more than one trip haha
We have to define the metric.
Amount, weight, number of bags, bulk (inch³)?
I have REALLY big hands and am ‘lazy and don’t want to make multiple trips so I’m definitely up there. I usually toss on some gloves to load up even more (as to avoid circulation loss)
I’ve carried so many that I lost 3 fingers from lack of circulation. Still not as impressive as the dude’s uncles that carried 4 turkeys. Absolute legend, that one.
A key component of a record is that its… recorded. I dont the the holder would be unaware if there were such a thing.
The problem is nobody can afford that many groceries at once anymore so the record is likely to stand for a long time.
It’s me. I’ve lost 3 fingers setting this record.
Some guy out there busted the most nut at one time amongst all of us and this king has no crown upon his brow. At the same time some queen swallowed the biggest load out of her peers and doesn’t have a Walmart gift card for her troubles
I bet they suspect, though.
Only a bitch takes more than one trip, and I say this as a 61y.o.female
You can only hold a record if it’s recorded
I do know. Thanks all.
I would have to nominate myself for the “with bags” category. I just stick my arms out and my girlfriend loads me up from my shoulders to my wrists. We never need a second trip (unless there are 12 packs or milk or something. non bagged groceries are my kryptonite)
I have a cargo tote that’s as big as the back of my Compass. When I carry it into the house with all my grocery bags in it, am I carrying one bag or 11?
